  1. Silver Leaf Silver leaf affects, pip fruit and stone fruit. Pip fruit heavy cuts should be made in dormant season. Stone fruit heavy cuts should be made in growing season. Both can be combated by painting heavy cuts with one of the following: Santa, mercury based, cankerex, trozane mixed with emulsion or the old favourite, arbourex. Stone fruit pruned in dormant season can lead to bacterial canker and silver leaf. By the way I was walking behind Adele the other day when I noticed that a piece of paper had fallen from her pocket, it turned out to be her shopping list, it read simply: "salad" Guess it's easier for her to write the stuff she doesn't want.
  2. It's like going to a shopping centre that only has one shop. I thought Jonesy's show was the South-East Arb show. At an Arb show, i would expect to find variety and opportunity for all products. You can't buy a woodchipper at mcdonalds! :laugh1:
  3. Hope this is going to be better than Jonesy's show. More the one person selling arb equipment, more than one training provider, seemed at bit one sided there! Been to the woodfair before as it's on my doorstep, perhaps it should be the south East Arb show.
  4. Too many abrupt ends, old suckers that have been left to grow as branches have not been removed. No replacement pruning allowed for. Too larger cuts made that at this time of year, that will encourage infection of silverleaf. Typical pruning job, of a tree surgeon that hasn't got a clue how to prune fruit trees!
  5. I don't see the point of that, when you can only use it for self rescue, or do you go in a lot of muddy fields?
  6. Come on Mick, admit it. This is you, spotted today on your new bike, you old git!
  7. All you blokes commenting on PPE need to look at your own PPE first, how many of you only have class 1 chainsaw trousers and use top handled or modern day saws that have a higher chain speed than your trousers are rated for. You might just as well wear jeans!
