Not me. We're only carrying out the tree work within the grounds. The moving of the trees is up to the head gardener, I'm just looking for suggestions for him. Yes, the best method is to use professional help/equipment etc, but as ever it's all about the size of the clients wallet!

The location is inside an old victorian walled garden and access is an issue for a tree spade. I was thinking of using a mini digger to clear round the root ball and use a small manitou to then scoop up and move. Only moving a 100yds at best so would it be best to bag and string the root ball before moving or not?

As the title suggests, what's the best method and machinery to move a number(4) of trees 100yds? 4 oak trees standing 20ft, 6-8" dia. Carlisle, Borders area.

Just an update to say rather than pay Greenmech £210 for the anvil bar I got a local engineering firm to machine a new bar and sharpen the blades for a total of £120. Result.

Well....managed to get the shear bars out and this is the bar that's been causing the problems. Now to buy a new one. £145!!

This will be the reason the blades are scrapping the shear bar then!!! Big bloody crack right through it. Still can't get it out though.

Great, just the words I wanted to see posted! Taken off all retaining bolts and clamp but the things don't budge.

Well, I found no issues with the infeed button and box above the hopper so I searched down the wire loom until I found this connector(pic 1) just by the battery. When I unscrewed this connection it was full of water, after taking the sheath back (pic 2) I found that the whole wiring loom was a reservoir of water. Once dried out using hair dryer and reattached and taping up of small hole where I suspect the water has been getting in the chipper is now running as it should. Job done. tach]176618[/attach]

Family day today so unable to fix the problem. I'll get onto it tomorrow and hopefully find the problem and remedy the issue. I will report back, cheers peeps.

Hi guys, The problem that developed today was that the feed rollers are in constant reverse. Normal operation is turn key, start engine, set revs then hit button above hopper to start the feed rollers. But now when the engine is cranked over the rollers operate immediately in reverse and hitting the button or pushing/pulling the bar does nothing. Maybe after a few minutes without touching the chipper it can either stop completely or start in feeding but then trip back to feeding out again. I've not had a chance to look at it yet in detail but intend to sort it over the weekend, just wondering if anyone has any pointers in where the problem could be?

Thanks folks. That was the only photo I was sent by a person who was told by her doctor to find out what species of plants and trees were in her garden. Her toddler was having a bad reaction to something and they needed to pinpoint what was causing it. I have now sent her a link to the species and what problems it can cause. Cheers.

Had mine for over 2 years and had no problems apart from loss of stitching along the reflective strips. Going to get another pair shortly, not because they are worn but only because even when washed they still look dirty. Lightweight, Comfortable and great value for money. Also for non chainsaw work try the e.s. motion work trousers, very durable and an assortment of pockets to fill.
