  1. Hi Got a Honda HRX537 been running perfectly until now, when running with blades in operation all ok, but when you release blade lever so the mower is at idle, it runs very uneven, power seems to go up and down, its like its running out of petrol, but its not. Any ideas???
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. will let you know how I get on. Sounds like I will be doing plenty of chain sharpening then!!
  3. Hi folks I have been asked to carve some mushrooms out of oak logs and was wondering how easy or difficult is oak carve? Cheers Lee

    echo saws

Hi Slightly of topic regarding saw choice, but I have a CS280wes that I got to put a carving bar on. Not put a carving bar on it yet as I tend to use for snedding and coppicing, nice and light and runs for ever on a tank of petrol:001_smile: Quite powerful for a small saw.
  5. Hi Guys Have got a few nice pieces of ash and was wondering if this would be ok to make spoons out of? Cheers
  6. Thanks for the replies, will see what I can rustle up
  7. Hi folks Does anybody know where I can get a holder/holster for a billhook that attaches to a belt. Been looking for a while now but no luck, is it soemthing that can be purchased or is it more a DIY option? Cheers
  8. Hi Sorry if this as been asked before but... Just wondering what is the best way to treat carvings to stop them splitting, made a mushromm a few weeks ago and the top as now started to split a little. Does anyone know how slow this process down? Cheers

    First chainsaw?

Hi Matt When I did ny CS30/31 anotherr gut on the course brought along a brand new Makita and myself had a old Stihl 026 that I borrowed from work but we were all shown the same things, cleaning, sharpening etc. I would save some cash and borrow one for the course then ask around and see what people favour saw wise. As spud says you cant go wrong with a Stihl Ms 260 or Husky 346xp, stopped making the Ms260 now though been replaced by the MS261 and I think the 346xp is being replaced soon as well so better be quick if you decide on the 346. Got a MS260 myself:001_smile:
  10. Well Done All the best with your CS31 next week
  11. Cheers for that, thought that might be the case but always worth checking just to make sure
  12. Hi I have some Stihl 2 stroke oil in one of their metering bottles, (the one where you squeeze the bottle and a the top part fills up with oil then you know its the right amount) Anyway I normally fill this part up to the 5L mark ready to put into a can of petrol , and have noticed that on the other side of this top section it has a 3L mark. I assume that if I fill it up to the 3L mark with oil, then they this will be enough oil to go in 3L of petrol. Sorry for the long winded explanation
  13. I did my CS30/31 at Bishop Burton College near beverley, think that they run course every 6 weeks or so, might be worth giving them a call.
