1. Does anybody have an AirSpade in the Greater Manchester area and would like to do some trial pits ?? DM me if interested
  2. Sorry should have stated we are looking at this with our consultants specs on. We have identified site constraints with regard to fauna and flora and will recommend our thoughts on trees. I wouldn't recommend flattening the site due to adverse reaction from locals etc. Plus if the LA get wind of it, it is only likely to annoy them and we haven't worked hard to build up our reputation to have it tarred by something like this! If this is recommended it kind of makes a laughing stock of BS5837, one of our main guidance documents!
  3. We have a few brownfield sites for a client where they want to clear the sites. Removing any trees and vegetation! There are no TPO's and they are not within a conservation area, is there anything to stop them doing this ! It just doesn't seem right ! Your thoughts will be much appreciated.

Hi Shane, whereabouts do you live, most of the work will be in the manchester area.

  5. Wow, some responses on here! The tree really doesn't look to bad from the pics. If our surveyors recommended to clients to fell all sycamore trees with a union like that we would bankrupt huge amounts of companies. Have a local consultant inspect the tree, a consultant will give an unbiased view of the tree. I would love to here the results of a consultants recommendation if you get one, it shouldn't cost to much if you use a local one.

    Tree tagging

We have been asked to tag 4600 trees, we have tried to advise against this but they are adamant they want it doing. My question is what is the best system for tagging trees, we need it to be fast. I was looking at these magazine and hammer combinations ! Does anybody use these ? Cheers

  16. Your welcome to your opinion but I believe that she wouldn't of been there I it wasn't for the striking teachers ! You can't argue against that surely. Any incident that happened to any child that couldnt be in school on the day of the strike is due to the teachers !
  17. Not having enough funds isn't a good enough argument....! Mid afternoon, no significant winds on a reasonably warm day after a few scorchers maybe it was summer branch drop and if so is there a negligence claim ? Thoughts go to the family etc As with the striking teachers that meant she wasn't in the place she should be I hope they are happy with there actions !
  18. Hello all i have found this poplar today and i am a little confused by the possible defect. below are a few pics, there seems to be a ridge on the bark where the tree starts to lean and there also seems to be some reactive growth. Is this just a growth defect or something a little more sinister, thanks in advance for any replies
