  1. Here in the states I have not heard of such a policy for tree work on it's own. When tree work is part of the bid or quote in conjunction with landscape work, including replacement of trees and shrubs, etc. Yes a deposit of 1/3 to 1/2 for the total job cost. I to wanted to cover my back. Good Hunting!

  2. My guess is they go to a chop shop and end up in former eastern block countries or China, for hard cash. Here in the states certain people from at least 10 different countries on a daily basis attend car auctions they purchase thousands of seemingly worthless looking cars typically sold for scrap. Since this is an auction the amount of money generated for the owners and auctioneer is very high. These cars are being strip down and shipped back over to China for a rebuild. I have this information on good authority since my cousin works for a company that strips out old autos for salvage. Stopping chippers and asking for paper work to prove ownership would be a good idea, however it would require a lot of man power. A national register would be more use full with a bar code system set up just like toll passes here in the states. My opinion.

  3. There is strength in numbers, I am proud of all the members that continue to provide suggestions and ways of coping with these ongoing losses of Kit. As a group I believe we can and will overcome this serious problem.

  4. If I have video recording of a theft in progress I would contact the police yesterday. It's your property. It does not belong to someone else. If someone can pull off a crime once they will be back for more untill they are caught. You mentioned that you know this person?

Knowledge of someone only helps with the investigation by the police. Don't wait any longer CALL NOW!!!. Have a nice weekend.

  5. I would recommend contacting the ISA. They do offer online courses for their members and if your not a member, maybe now might be a good time to join. All the best and a speedy recovery.

  6. Dear Les, It can and usually starts with one company making a difference for the end consumer and an industry as a whole. Who can I contact within Blout, Oregon to make this happen now. The technology is there and the need is really needed. Please advise. You may also send me a private email if you wish. Lets try and make this work for the members of ArbTalk.

  7. treequip does the UK have a national police, would interpol be interested?.since I believe most of these stolen items are leaving the country. Here in the states,at least Florida I could contact my l county or state official in conjunction with the Attorney General to start an investigation and get the ball rolling. Any contact information or additional comments are welcome.

Have a nice safe week end all.

  8. Since I joined ArbTalk in Feb 2011 I have seen on average One report on the forum for stolen kit per week. These losses are unacceptable. I have been attempting to work out some viable means of proactively slowing this plague that has fallen upon my fellow members. I am still gathering information to develop a plan of action. Although I am based in the states I would be great full for any assistance on the ground, so to speak.

Interested?, Since you mentioned earlier on in your message about help from the police, I think your suggestion go's even further to involve Scotland Yard due to the range of reports of stolen kit and the $$$ amount. I am convinced this is organized crime at work. What say you, your opinion means a lot to me.
