  1. Hi Eddie, would you be able to email me for a price too when you get a chance. It’s to go on a Takeuchi TB125. I’d sooner buy from someone who knows what they are talking about rather than an over enthusiastic salesman! im under no illusion that it is a machine to compete with a tractor, I’m just after a tool which I can accomplish what I’d normally have to face with brushcutters only sitting in a cab instead of getting tangled with brambles!
  2. ▻ If it could easily get through brambles like In that pic and leave a nice finish I’d be happy with that. ␡
  3. Didn’t realise Approved hired out- that may be well worth it. A 3 tonner could be a good carrier- sneaking through woodlands etc and being able to do public footpaths and stuff
  4. Iv spent the last hour trying to find good you tube videos. But can’t find much that really makes my mind up either way. im not expecting a mega mulcher- just something that can undertake thick brambles and other light scrub more efficiently than if I was having to brushcut it.
  5. Just wondering about getting a flail for my 2.8t Takeuchi. Main jobs being flailing areas of brambles on soft or awkward terrain and odd jobs like knocking a hedge back prior to stock fencing etc. they aren’t mega money IMO at £3k or so but does anyone own or operate one on a 3 ton size machine and how do you find it. cheers
  6. Stinky. Would have thought there should be some law covering this and protecting other buisnesses further down the line. Company assets should be sold with outstanding invoices being a priority. sorry no help. But feel for you- this would really rile me.
  7. I vote wood shavings, I agree it’s got to do the job but the kind of people who order a mill are going to have space to open outdoors and also dispose of the wood chippings. I’d feel more respect for you as a company that you were taking an environmental approach particularly if there was a note explains why you’ve made the change. I get pretty sick of opening parcels that come in a sea of plastic/polystyrene etc that I have to dispose of and I know will inevitably end up in a landfill somewhere.
  8. I’d say the disco 2 with the TD5 is a very viable choice. in terms of power - how much do you need. Local groundwork’s contractor uses a Disco 2 to move his 3 ton diggers all over the place. A mate of mine has one too and has used it to tow my 3 tonner around too, and it’s not easy terrain around hear. Power means little if the gearing is not there for heavy towing. This is why defenders are good towers- not much power and shameful on the motorway but plenty of low gearing for lugging.
  9. And in any case surely it’s better the stores are taken on, hopefully improved and staff can keep their jobs rather than allowing it to liquidise altogether. Mole Valley are like the Tesco of the farming world though!
  10. Our local countrywide store is a pretty dreadful and uninspiring place, If they’re all like that I’m surprised they haven’t gone down sooner. We have a couple of decent independent agricultural merchants round here that Put countrywide to shame. Feel for the staff though of course.
  11. It was on the newtake in between Prince Hall hotel and two bridges on the left hand side of the road. Muddilake it’s called. which is probably an appropriate name. yes, the key Iv found is once it’s broken the surface on wet Peat don’t keep trying to get it out unaided as it quickly digs itself in deeper.
  12. Doing well- and still keeping the stumps low!
  13. That would have been ideal- but the hitch was so buried I couldn’t drop it off. The trailer has flotation tyres on which helps and generally goes across pretty boggy ground- the bit the tractor went down in was essentially a pond covered in spagnum moss!
  14. Yes, we got a strop- thankfully my digger pulled it out, but was touch and go. There Was a spring bubbling up under neath the tractor so we turned it into a Curlew scrape! Think he was feeling a little sheepish
  15. Ah ok, sorry didn’t realise that 30k included a proper tilt rotator setup- though you just meant the sides to side tilt hitch (which are still dear anyway) £21k starting price does seem good. for those wanting a Takeuchi tb016/216 model- there may well be an influx of used machines coming up!
  16. There is the Yanmar SV26 which I believe comes as standard with 2 aux circuits for around £25k and at 2.6t is still towable
  17. 30k seems a lot to me, my local Takeuchi dealer quoted me £24k 2 years ago for the 3 ton 228, and Volvo £26k for their EC27. But I suppose if that is for a tilting hitch too it’s not too bad.
  18. Came across this nice village in Spain.
  19. I can see out the window that vans are still managing to get about so can’t be too bad on The road- they usually clear the B3212 pretty well.
  20. Not Sure, havnt ventured out much. But road outside my house is 5” which seemed to happen within an hour.
  21. Snowing heavily here on Dartmoor and piling up too. More to come as well later so they say. i don’t getvthe feeling it will ha g around for very long though- just doesn’t feel cold enough.
