  1. Well you lot in Edinburgh are just soft!! Us rural folk...well...
  2. have you felt the wind up here? call me soft (go on then...) I'd rather be here than in a sitka wood with tops snapping everywhere!!! Besides, what better way to spend a friday afternoon!
  3. Hummm, just connected my two 'tennis elbows' to this. I used it a few years ago for hard training for big wall climbing. Did help but recon the strength increase over-loaded the joints - can't be sure though. Having said that, using very small amounts certainly helps with recovery. If you want serious strength, power endurance etc google "The workout from Hell". Its awesome and I've done it on 3 occassions in prep for big walls. For those of you into rock climbing it helped my raise my game from 5.9 to 5.11!!! have fun with it anyway.
  4. Good weather for sailing!
  5. Been thinking about this having arrived at a site and seen half the stack gone! About 5t's. This would only work if you know who / where the logs have gone! Spray a UV paint on them and take a UV light to see who / if the person you suspect has taken them. Just a thought. I like the CCTV idea although could get pricey setting up and managing every stack.
  6. Legally, if you have agreed to something (a trial in this case) and the terms (paid or un-paid) then that is exactly what the 'contract / agreement' is - nothing more nor nothing less. There is not a stipulation whether a 'trial' should be un-paid or not if it is of "reasonable duration". Defining reasonable is up to the two parties involved. If you are happy to do an hour, day, week, etc then that is up to you. If you don't do the trial (un-paid) what else would you be doing...either working in your current job or earning nothing any way. No brainer.
  7. Hi Dave, just started learning to use an Alstor and have seen it whizzing about the place extracting hardwood thinning. I can't say I'm any expert on them but having seen if shift 30 - 40 tons in a day and the head forester is impressed I am too!! From the info on the Vimek you linked too, looks like its far 'lighter weight' than the alstor. My vote - Alstor, I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with it on more hardwood and spruce in the next few months. Cheers Iain
  8. Try Adrian Flux. Been good to me over the years.
  9. Oh, meant to say...more of a general point on imports. Mostly hilux and pajero's with auto boxes. Anything less than a 3lt engine seems to have over heating issues and the thermostat is often removed. Either way the end result is not pretty and I've seem a few that have cracked engine blocks as a result - which is terminal or just plain expensive! Just thought I would mention it!
  10. Hi Callum, some good advice on here particularly from Richyrich. I have had quite a lot of 4x4 vehicles and richy is spot on. The one thing with L200's, perhaps above all else as things will always go wrong with motors, is to look at the rear springs and the mounts on the L200's. They are very stiff, corrode quickly and expensive to replace (circa £500). That said you can now get after-market ones for around half that. Towing is an issue for the L200. No idea why but they just don't seem to handle it. As for the defender, find a different mechanic or learn to do the work yourself - most of it is pretty straight forward on them and by the sounds of it you have done all the work it'll need for a long while so hang on to it. For what you're likely to use a L200 for it's a good option - in fact most 4x4's will do what you need it to. For what it's worth my philosophy with motors is spend less than a couple of grand on as much motor as you can get. I'll spend up to 3k a year on purchase, any repairs etc and if after a year its done - sell it. I've always made my money back and a few quid!!! Bottom line, always walk away if you have any doubts...hope that helps. Iain
