  1. i will be selling norway spruce at £3 per ft ex VAT and nordmann fir at £5 per ft ex VAT. hope this helps
  2. right, finally remembered:001_rolleyes: i would guess this machine is designed for working in rows as it is mounted on the 3pl and it slews round as well as having side shift. has not been used for approx 2 years, but did work just fine when last on the tractor. hydraulic toplink included just not in pics, currently on another machine. requires 1 pair of spool valves (could be used with single with free return pipe stuck in the fill point:001_tongue:) also needs front weights on tractor depending on size... i had it on a international 684 with 300kg hanging off the front, still had to aim and go when driving, specially with rootball as well!
  3. apologies as i have yet again forgotten to take photos in daylight... will make a note to do in the morning...
  4. ha! there's a hardware store near me that's selling what can only be described as "lumps" of wood, maybe 6" long and possibly half a regular sized wood basket full, for £6.99!! crazy crazy people!
  5. one hell of a bayonet!!
  6. hmmm, tried that, didn't seem to explain why it wouldn't manage offcuts... ok, so is the round timber best split seasoned or green then season in the nets?
  7. so can someone tell me the difference between a block and an offcut???, i was thinking it'll only take rounds because they need to "roll" down the infeed, but now i'm confused:blushing:
  8. hahahahaha! dedication or mental illness??
  9. challenge accepted, wont get moaned at cos wife is out tonight too:001_tt2:
  10. learn something new everyday! reletively new to the forestry side, we have about 30 acres of young woodland, doing increasing amounts of firewood and kindling but we're supposed to be farmers really:001_tongue:
  11. is anybody here likely to be interested in an Optimal VF 650 treespade? 3pl mounted, dug all of about 10 trees whilst in my ownership, bought from a tree nursery about 4 years ago. all works, just not got time or inclination now to market this system. pics available if asked nicely:001_tongue:
  12. difficult, as the little old lady broke into a run
  13. hahaha what a colossal waste of time!!
  14. don't take it to heart dave, if you don't know something ask! we all have to start somewhere and it's great you're interested.
  15. brilliant, many thanks in advance, keen to learn of new methods! figured also that the labour of the job would kill what little profit there might be, so this sounds like a good avenue to explore:001_smile:
  16. harvester?? the harvester heads i've seen would get these poles stuck between their teeth! max diameter 12-14" and multiple stem, if i'm wrong in thinking that wouldn't work then please point me in the direction of someone who'd do that...
  17. buyer for the product first, whether it's worth me converting what is straight and clean into stakes or better to sell to a timber yard? or as this is first coppice for the plantation, whether would be more cost effective to go all in for firewood? making it up as i go along to be honest!
  18. not a chance, hence only owner used...
  19. way too long skyhuck, but you gotta start somewhere, and this is the halfway point, better than by hand but not as efficient as a kindlett for example. i'd love to have D. M. Taylor's machine, but cant meet the price at the moment...
  20. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20yzDDdLKqM]YouTube - Kindling machine[/ame] you now have just 2 wishes remaining...
  21. How many times does she have to tell you dave, change that bloody bulb!! lovely set up, nice to have plenty of space to dry the timber if it's been snowing or what not.
  22. just got some pics of my set up. the carpenters saw is there for scale... timber is all pine, all reject timber from window manufacturer, but always clean and fine cut. 6" length the large bag is 6kg and the small 3kg i'm doubling my money on what i pay for this pine (after accounting for labour and machine costs). wholesaling large bag £2.80 and the small £1.60. farm shops and hardware shops not complained at prices...
  23. or mark up one lorry's worth of wood with spray marker, process, and keep count of how many cube you get from that load
  24. "hello missus, come to climb your tree..." bemused and not recollecting any previous contact with this buck toothed tramp she
  25. any suggestions for contacts for regarding 17-18 yr old SC coppice approx 3 acres, not been cut since planting, some good stuff any opinions appreciated
