  1. I have been buying the hi-flex for years now. I buy them because they are comfy but thats all good and well being comfy but they do not last long at all.. Id feel lucky if I managed to get a full year out of them. Iv decided not to buy them anymore. Yes they are cheaper than other trousers and they look good too, but I dont think they are value for money at all... I recently bought some Stretch Air Gladiator II Cool.. So far I have only tried them on im my house, I havnt actually done any work in them. The fabric and design seem superior compared to the hi-flex, they seem to be more restrictive but im looking forward to trying them out. I'll let you guys know what I think of them after xmas... Wishing everybody a very merry xmas and a great new year
  2. I want to completley strip down my MS260, clean it, replace anything that need replacing and put it back together. Anybody know any links to videos I can watch. Theres a good one on youtube I found but it for the MS250
  3. I love my MS201T. I think my personal reasons for prefering it is... The chain break is much stronger (I was always breaking them on the 200t) and with the slightly more rounded edges it hardly ever gets stuck inbetween branches, and when it does get stuck, its easier to retrieve
  4. Both my MS260 and the BR550 have both got scored cylinders and are knackered. Cant beleive my luck. Iv had prices from my local Stihl dealer to fix, I nearly fell over.... I now realise Im going to have to buy new. ***UNLESS*** somebody reading this knows of a cheaper way to get these machines fixed, Id rather fix if possible because they are only 2 or 3 yrs old and almost look new. Also, Is it worth stripping these machines down and selling as parts on Ebay, has anybody done this before? How much money can be achived by doing this?
  5. Thanks for all the info. I have never tried the StretchAir before. Will try them out and give you my opinion early next year.
  6. Sorry when i said iv been wearing them a fair few years, I meant iv been buying them for a fair few years. I seem to get about a year's use out of them before they look like a patchwork quilt.
  7. Iv been using the Stihl Hi-Flex for a fair few years now. Yes they are comfy and light but im sick to death of stitching them up. I need to buy some more trousers soon and would love ppl's views on the most robust trousers out there for climbers. A friend of mine has some Husqvarna's which look like they have a pretty tough outer material. So far they have impressed me the most. What trousers do you use? how do you rate them?
  8. Im sick of travelling around the country following the work.. I live in Leeds and want to work or be based in leeds. Im an experienced climber of 12yrs - HGV I&II and Pre97 licence - CSCS - Traffic Managment and much more. Im now so dedicated to living and working in Leeds that im willing to do almost any kind of job even if it means leaving tree work altogether. Does anybody know somebody looking for workers? Any help would be greatly appreciated..!!! Thanks. Jay.
  9. who is G&T?
  10. Sorry pal but thats a little nieve the pikies are ruthless, take it from somebody who knows a few. If they like your dogs they will take them too.
  11. Id like to hear your stories, opinions or previous exp of this subject. Im a 30yr old climber. Iv been climbing about 12yrs. Im still fit and enjoy most aspects of my job but im not getting any younger and health issues are bound to start appearing sooner or later, as they do with all people. From time to time I think to myself 'I cant do this forever' or if im doing a crap job in rubbish weather im thinking 'im getting too old for this ****' What age have you retired from climbing and what did you do afterwards? Employers - What age would you consider to be too old when your employing? Do you work with somebody that is obviously too old? How old is he? I dont plan on stopping climbing just yet, I know theres plenty more years ahead of me, I just want to hear your thoughts and stories etc..
  12. I handed in my notice at work today to take a job in london pruning mainly street trees. As I live in Yorkshire I obviously have to relocate. I spent 2yr in germany in the Army aswell as Cyprus and Bosnia. Since leaving the Army I have spent long times on the Scottish border, Essex, Wales, the Midlands etc. So I am not new to moving away. This time tho I am nervous, I dont know if im making the right decision. My daughter is 10 now and altho I only see her at weekends I still want to spend as much time as I can with her. My friends and family are here and im not getting any younger. My job now is low paid and only just cover the bills and there seems to be no work around here at all.... Working in london, paying for a B&B and paying my bills in yorkshire I will be better off by aroung £100 - £150 per week I think I just need some words of encouragement, or a slap in the face and bringing back down to earth.. Plz give me your first opinions. Or if anybody out there in or around yorkshire is wanting a top climber, let me know please.

  17. Yeah mate. Been a climber for 12 yrs.. made a few mushrooms in the past and i dont think their too bad... I want a carving bar to try something a little more difficult that i can put some detail into..
  18. Has anybody got an old carving bar for an MS200t I can buy to practice with. I dont fancy paying £70 to find out im crap or dont have the patience. Thanks and maybe someday I can carve something even half as good as some of the stuff on here 07949180071
