  1. Apparantly Olivers Tree Services, from Durham have been to the rescue again, saving a Buzzard chick, and putting it back in the nest. Anyone heard anything about Buzzards around Durham?
  2. Keep your Loler, Puwer records and Accident book not much else you can do
  3. They are hard to get, I even tried off our regional HSE man, and got the answer 'they are on the site but hard to find'!
  4. Something 'big'??? a 50p piece could be classed as that with a 125!
  5. ps, if your going to use the winch for directional felling, do you think it will be fast enough? Also, chech the rating on the winch, they are not designed for continuous use and can burn out easliy..
  6. The superwinch (machine mart) is identical to the warne winches. We have both makes on chippers, 12v, and the spec is the tech same, mounting bolts holes etc are the same and the SW is a lump cheaper
  7. The college should be able to advise on any available funding, its different across the country and personal circumstances
  8. Do them without going to college if you want. You dont need formal training to get an assessment, just helps if you have little/no experience
  9. Some colleges give them, but not many. All depends on the funding they get, these are a must to get a job.
  10. 30,31,38,39,40,41 (32 would be nice) chipper and grinder are also handy. Check with the college you fancy, some of them will sort the CS units out
  11. The ND is a better course if you want to move into charge hand position in the future, also a better base if you ever fancy doing the HNC/HND course
  12. Either NC a 1 year course, or ND 2 year, both should give you a good basic knowledge of trees, science etc and pruning, plus you MAY get your CS units thrown in, will atleast get the training off the college to be able to pass the assessments

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
