  1. Well, I know a guy who knows a guy who's Great-uncle went to school with a guy who's daughter is friends with Ricky Gervais. And we all know Ricky Gervais is huge in Austria. So I pulled in a favor!
  2. Hi Craig, It's a bit of rubber, I believe. Have not seen it firsthand so don't quote me on that!
  3. Greetings from across the pond! Teufelberger/Treemagineers [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_zDuHgVbBk]pulleySAVER[/ame] Hardware by DMM.
  4. Thank you for the comments (both for and against) on my video. The intent of the vid was to highlight just a few of the many options for the multiSLING and ringLOOP. Certainly not trying to preach this setup as Gospel. Just showing what simple bits of kit are capable of. Others have said, "another technique for the tool box", and I'm glad to have it there when I feel it's the best option. As a production arborist and contract climber, I would not keep many clients if I spent my time fannying about with gear on every job! However, videoing these setups in realtime as much as possible actually shows how quickly (or not, depending upon your outlook) they can be installed. Editing out the parts where knots have to be tied and such would not be a true representation of the process. Cheers!
  5. Well, glad you didn't fall the other 15'! Thank you for sharing. I think, with all things climbing related, it is certainly good practice to glance up at your tie in point occasionally. Also, take the little extra steps. 6 coils are better than 4... but 8 are better than 6! Also, a stopper knot below the prusik. Speaking of the stopper below... If the prusik began to slip, the loop would move downward with it. As the access line is moving "up" through the prusik, it continues over the crotch and then "down" with the loop!
  6. Hi Rupe, Would you share your experience with the prusik pulling through the loop? I have never experienced this and I feel that it is even less likely to happen with this method as there is nothing in the loop to stiffen it. Even with a stiffener (take the Treemagineer's pulleySAVER, for example) I have not experienced a pull-through... and I have tried to make it happen! Purposely weighting and un-weighting the system while shaking it about and dashing it against limbs. Where I could possibly see a pull-through happening is if the prusik does not have enough coils. The pulleySAVER uses OP 8mm with a "4-wrap, 8-coil" prusik on 13mm Sirius. One thing that I should have reiterated in the video was the need (or at least recommendation) for a stopper knot below the prusik. A wet or icy rope could have the prusik slipping. Rupe, I would like to hear your experience with pull-through as I certainly do wish to take precautions! Thanks
  7. Xerxses,

Thanks for the link to my multiSLING vids. A few more on the way later this week. ringLOOP, Hitchclimber, multiANCHOR.
