  3. Sorry to hear that guys. I am also very close and will keep an eye out. We had a spate like this back in Feb 2012. They did my van safe with serious cutting gear, and it sounds like it could be the same bunch back in the area. Keep a look out because in my case they came back exactly a week later and broke into my van again. There were no tools left in it this time so they nicked my silkys and the battery! Perhaps an overnight vigil with a shotgun after 7 days might yeild the culprits?

  5. Yeah but come on Geoff, you only do 3 days a week.
  6. The comprehensive answer to this is there is no minimum speed limit on normal A B or C class roads under normal circumstances although Highway Obstruction might apply if you come to a complete stop and block the carriageway. Motorways have a national minimum speed limit of 30mph in order to prevent the usual multiple pile up by the MGPs doing 100+ whilst looking 2 feet in front of their bonnet. Certain roads have a designated minimum speed limit in order to keep traffic moving for example the Blackwall Tunnel under the Thames has a mnimum of 10mph. This is shown by a small blue sign. Provided your vehicle is road legal and not of abnormal size or weight, you can use the road at whatever speed you wish unless any of the above applies. If you are over weight ie above 38 tonnes or over 35 feet in length, you will require a police escort. Hope this is helpful.
  7. I have heard of Blackfriars so I wouldn't worry on that front. I had this problem a few years ago and was paying fortunes for my PL and employers liability. My company were fleecing me for over 3k at the time. I then found Lycetts, who only fleece me for just over 1k and they are kind enough to do it in installments. Don't be surprised in a very big difference in premiums. Its not that the lower ones are not offering the same cover, it's usually the higher ones are just ripping you off. Have a look at Lycetts.co.uk on the web and see what they quote you, as their area of cover is the same as the one who charged me 3 times as much. Best of luck, its a minefield out there.
  8. I have to say, I couldn't agree more with you. The ungrateful think you walk up to a tree, tap it with a chainsaw and a neat pile of seasoned split logs simply appear. There is a huge demand for firewood out there, it's just that the consumers seem to think it should be provided free on the basis of "But you got paid to take the tree down!" Oh how little they know........ Keep smiling.
  9. If the saw is a 346XP with a 15" bar, the chain type will almost certainly be an Oregon 22LP or 22BP type. This requires a 3/16 file. However be warned that the top plate angle will be 25 degrees and not 30 degrees as is common. Check the angle of the witness marks for confirmation. In addition the side plate angle will be 60 degrees requiring a 10 degree (handle) down angle when filing. You can get away with using a 4.5mm file but a 3/16 is better. You can get a small roller jig at most arb suppliers which I found very useful when sharpening this type of chain. I hope you find my ramblings useful.
