  1. has any one heard of a purpose built area near skipton used for cs 38 my trainer is taking us there tomorrow and would like to find out wat its like before we go
  2. my view today when i was out on a practise climb at my aunt and uncles farm
  3. well i met with the my trainer today she let me use some of her devices for a few hours to see wich i was most comfortable with and i personally prefferd the last one of the day it was a lanyard with a prussik using a split tail i think thats the best for the now any way il post a picture asap to show it just so its a bit more explained as i may have named it wrong thanks again for the help and im sure ill have more questions for you folkes to help me with lol

  6. basically im just starting my cs38 ive bought a complete kit from gustharts but i need a safety strap or second anchor point strap???? i weigh ruffly 20 stone and was wondering would a rope grab hold me along wid a 13mm rope or could any one suggest any other method i did borrow the instructors rope with a pulley and friction rope set up but didnt find that very comfy and was playing that it wouldnt hold i would prefer something made of metal just to ease my mind any help would be appreciated
  7. sorry i meant to say rather than a purpose built skiline just using a normal pto driven winch
  8. at the moment im currently working as a door supervisor on bars and pubs until work pics up for me and basically i had a brain wave for a skiline basically a double drum winch powered my tractor or unimog 1 line for lowering and raising the carrage and the other for pulling in the wood a basic roller and hook as a carriage with chain chokers to wrap around the timber and some form of steel frame work to lift the cables higher enough to clear the stumps and what not was this a bit of a mad moment in the freezing cold last night or is this used by any 1 or ever been atempted
  9. Hi im looking for forestry work within cumbria and south west scotland i have cross cutting and maintenance and small felling and looking to take further liscences when the money arises experienced in thinning, clear fell, fencing,brashing for harvester any help would be much appreciated
  10. does any 1 know how long nptc certificates last as im looking to take my climbing certificates and not sure if id have to resit from the begining also how hard are the climbing certificates im quite a big lad but im losing the weight gradually shud i wait to lose enuf or just crack on any help would be great thanks
  11. hi iam based in cumbria i have been working for a forestry company doing thinng and clear fell work unfortunately i have been made redundant due to a lack of work if any 1 can help please message me bk i have cross cutting and maintenace and small tree felling liscence have done fencing and planting any help would be much appreaciated thanks
