i'd like more info on the removable studs, how easy is it to remove/fit, what tools are needed? i had a go studding tyres with an air gun years ago when i worked in a garage but can't remember how it worked..
-
sweet hinge though.. idiots:thumbdown:

Good shot Mark, I've just packed up a right solid one and got Stockbridge right in the boat race. He's now searching for his glasses in the snow.
whats this? someone on their knees? pile on snow dive and faceplanted them hahaha:thumbup:
-
im just going to sneak away quietly.........to make a pile of rapid deploy snow missiles:thumbup:
-
Theres a unimog for sale for £4950 that will guarantee deliveries no matter how much snow you get.
No wonder there are no gritters on the road there is 3 available here
thats a cool website, loads of goodies there:thumbup1:

no, if the engine starts immediately then you can change the earth strap for a new one, if it still struggles you can cross that off the blacklist..
-
what about the problem of there being no sedimenter????
shouldn't need a sedimenter, mine hasn't got one either but at the base of the fuelfilter (engine bay bulkhead) there should be a plastic wheel to undo to drain off water, i'd just change the filter and forget it..
-
can you go through this in better detail. Im dumb.
take one jumplead, fasten one end to a lump of metal on the engine somewhere, the lump at the front is ideal (thermostat) and fix the other end to the negative post on the battery, then try starting it.. according to haynes manual under the heading ENGINE DIFFICULT TO START WHEN COLD.. 1.battery discharged 2.ignition timing incorrect 3.battery terminal connections loose or corroded 4.preheating system faulty 5.wax formed in fuel 6.fuel injector fault 7.low cylinder compressions.
-
I'd still check the engine earth strap Darren, its a common cause of poor starting, the cold weakens the battery and it becomes apparent. Air in the fuel isn't good but I can't think why that would only happen when its cold.
to check the earth strap you can run a jumplead from the engine block to body or battery negative terminal, saves a mucky crawl underneath:thumbup:

the only problem i can see is hillstarts and reversing up driveways, it only takes a few minutes to kill a clutch, you will need good tyres too for pulling it in winter. other than that i'd rather tow with a freelander than a 2wd vehicle:thumbup1:
-
what weight will you be pulling?
-
piccies? got to be better than them wheelbarrow tyres you were sporting at the weekend:thumbup:

I bloody hate Kretz. Its rot is so unpredictable and is it is difficult to detect in some case. We are carefully monitoring a couple of our roadside beech trees. I hope this link works but if not i shall get some pics of the tree we are monitoring very closely.
someone told me recently that if kretz is present and detectable the damage is already done, we have done a few big old beeches this year with it, horrible and brittle, one of them had failed big time, luckily onto a large open lawn but i wouldn't like to be monitoring a host tree..

bmw's are rubbish in the snow, one pirouetted past me today, one more off the road this week can only be a good thing:thumbup:, k.deuesta can cause serious devastation:scared1:

monocoque and not very rigid one at that then?!
but capable(ish) off road - mud, grass etc?
ground clearance?
that was a brand new one, i'm not trying to put you off them, my neighbor has one that looks cool and he swears by it, yes it was pretty good off road in mud/bumps etc:thumbup1:

had a play in the xtrail offroad at nec birmingham a couple of years ago, it let a lot of water in at the watersplash and the doors wouldn't open when it was crossaxled, also it creaked a lot when crossaxled but seemed ok otherwise..
