  1. For the first time in yonks i got stung up last year, headed for home only a mile away to sort myself out.Theyd got under my helmet somehow, and inside my shirt and trousers before i knew what happened, and got my kit off to brush them off.the swarm got me 20 times before i could get out of their way and it took me all afternoon of resting before i felt better to go back and collect my gear which luckily was still there.now keep puriton in my truck. Then got blinking nipped again last week when i stood on a nest, again they got under my helmet but as ide gone on my tractor i still had to come home for tablet.i had 6 sting bumps on my head which mrs oldwoodcutter treated with vinegar.

  2. This summer spent 2 days in ladies garden felling some connies and reducing others,2 of wich had squabs in nests.Tea and cakes had been coming all day with a few slightly flirty comments from her. After i explained about the nests, she looked me straight in the eye and said 'when are you coming back to finish me off then'.I suddenly felt about 45 years younger again.

  3. Got a new cap for mine and this ones been much better.I also make sure the rim of the tank and the o ring on the cap are nice and clean. If it breaks while you're out on the job and you only own one 020 you're really in the soup.

  4. When i was pushing mrs oldwoodcutters trolley round Netto a few weeks ago i spotted a pallet full of 16" 50cc chinese saws at £50 a throw.I couldn't resist opening up a box and it looked a right plastic maggot.Funnily enough by the next week, they'd all gone.If you dont want a saw thats unreliable or will fly to pieces in your hands,my advice would be a stihl or husky Monkey Boy - if you prefer oregon, you can always run it on that.

  5. Hi Zak,i dont know if you're 17 or 70 but producing firewood manually is going to be hard work, but the younger you are,the easier your body can adapt to it. A bit like using a computer - ive just copied out the advice andy gave you onto a piece of paper as ime of an age that i find using a laptop very difficult, but am learning slowly.Good luck with your firewood, with effort you will make a living.

  6. After the war things were very tight, but rabbits were everywhere round here before mixy,so my old dad would often bring home some fryers - baby to half grown ones which the old woman would put in the frying pan to fill us up. mrs oldwoodcutter still does me one occasionally.

  7. when for once she doesnt moan about the smell of steaming clothes around the logburner. when your groundie is about to collapse you offer him some cheerful encouragement, even though you are more tired than him. when you take her out for sunday lunch and soon realise that you forgot to clean the dogpoo off the truck pedals, and the groundies seatbelt has left a bold green stripe across her new pink jacket.
