  1. Historically, SRT refers to one length of rope, which is hung in a single leg style. The double rope with a hitch round both legs is also a stationary setup, but referred to as double rope technique, and used primarily for access. The third configuration, is doubled rope technique, two legs but both sides move at a bight point. This is supposedly now dynamic rope technique according to some people.

    I don't see why we need to change the names when they've worked fine for decades before arbs started thinking they'd created something new by moving in both directions on srt.

  2. If you get to Lake Vrynwy, find the hand that Simon O'Rourke carved. There's a couple of Douglas firs next to it that are only a man's length off 200'

    It's on the north side, just to the north east of a little car park/pull in place

    North west of the car park, sorry

  3. Speaking as someone who has taken 2 :blushing: trailer tests I would say that this sort of information would be far too practical for a modern., Eco friendly driving test!

    This thread goes to show that I am right not trusting handbrakes, I alwAys leave vehicles in gear and chock the trailers.

    I agree, this is definitely not a subject covered in trailer training or testing

  4. HI DAN we had a good time last year mate thanks jon :thumbup:

    This is a cracking show.

    Also because it runs alongside a country show there is far more going on than just arb and forestry stuff.

    The quality and choice of food is awesome, so much better than the usual greasy crapburgers.

    Cheers fellas, hope to see you all there this year

  5. It's getting towards that time of year again and for our tenth anniversary we're planning to be bigger than ever before. We've got all the old favourites and more...

    As usual, the East of England Cutters and Climbers Competition is being held on the 25th & 26th April at the East Anglian Game and Country Fair.

    Game & Country Fair, Norfolk Showground, 25th & 26th April 2015

    This year, in our usual style we've added and changed a few things around. Running throughout the weekend will be the usual events;

    Work Climb

    Felling Competition

    Pole Climb

    MEWP Competition

    Balance Beam.....with a twist...... (Always a highlight!)

    After last year's success we're running the SRT work climb competition, hopefully there'll be even more entrants with the rise in popularity of SRT over the last 12 months.

    Last year saw the start of a speed log splitting and throwline events, there are a few more top secret new features in the pipeline.

    The events will be staged over the two days so you'll need to be there for both. Camping is free on site, with evening entertainment and BBQ planned for Saturday evening. Alex will running his workshop on the Saturday evening, though I'm not sure of the topic yet, it's always worth going to, you're certain to learn a few things.

    There's always a raft of prizes for the various disciplines and the overall winners. You may even win the coveted "Most Employable Person".

    Entry for the weekend's events is £20, enrolment forms are available on the Facebook page;

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/East-of-England-Cutters-and-Climbers-Competition/394739513952567

    There are still a few trade stand spaces available, get in touch with me for more info - [email protected] or visit the Facebook page.

    Banners can be displayed for advertising in the main arena, £3 per foot.

    If you haven't been before it's a great event, friendly people and a fantastic chance to network within the industry. Each year we're bringing in people from further afield, so don't think this is a "locals only" event. There are already two confirmed entrants from Cumbria!

  6. Fair play, I didn't go to college!

    I should have said the Genus is Populus, or is that still incorrect?

    You could have done :)

    I wasn't having a go at you, more an observation of the pedantry that goes on.

    Ftr, I don't like bad spelling and grammar, but in a written medium a lot would be missed if you ignored or dismissed every poorly spelt or wrongly worded post.
