  1. Just to let you know I bumped into some tool fairies at the farm earlier today, selling cheap saws and tools, when I went in there was a message from the police ring round saying to look out for the same truck so just to let anyone local know its a white 62 reg toyota hilux with fibreglass back and tinted windows, rang police and they said had got a car out looking for them but just a heads up for anyone in my area :001_cool:

  2. It's like this - the outside gets a bit beat up like an old suitcase but inside you are still around 15 years old - I have yet to find out if everybody is still as stupid inside as they were when they were 15 or if it is just me:blushing:

I say that some will walk by a colleague stooping down in front of them without a thought and some will think "I wonder what will happen if i give his arse a good kick and then run like hell".....guess which I am:blushing::lol:

Growing old is compulsory, Growing up is optional :laugh1: and yep I'd kick em up the arse too

  3. Hey I didn't realize the test card was color til 1981 lol

I had a Rayleigh |Chopper ......still got it but I'm finding I can't tow the same amount of wood with it now

I learnt to ride a bike on my mates raliegh chopper, never had one myself, once i mastered it his dad let me ride his BSA bantam round the garden too :thumbup1:

  4. When I changed it last year it was horrendous, I ended up using a cordless reciprocating saw and cutting it off, this time it was easy because I copper greased the spline when I fitted the new one last year, I worked it off by hand this time

Other way is to use a plasma disc on 4" grinder, bit awkward to get it in but will cut through it in no time :thumbup1:

  5. The citroen dispatch, peugeot expert and fiat whatever it is are all the same van just badged to whichever manufacturer, guy I worked for had one didnt seem a bad van, only problem was used to get a bit cosy with 3 of us in the front :laugh1:

  6. You were lucky there mate, I bought my old hi cap as cat C salvage due to the drop arm ball joint doing exactly the same, but had done it at speed, when I got it the cab roof was on the headrests and the front bulkhead was bent as it had flipped when the steering went :001_cool:

  7. I put anything down to approx 3-4" into the selling pile and anything below, goes in a pile for home or the charcoal burner, burns as hot and lights easier than bigger stuff, only downside is having to stoke the woodburner more often :laugh1:

  8. I've always said theres more evidence for "global Warming" being a natural cycle than being man made, climate change scientists always seem to go quiet when asked to explain how the earth managed to warm enough to thaw after the ice ages without mans imput of pollution, never let the facts get in the way of good argument, climate change is big business :thumbup1:

  9. I've inherited a few things over the years, mostly old block planes, a paraffin blowtorch (never got it going think it needs new seals), as for useable day to day tools I have a few digging bars 3 of which have been "acquired" for which read found on jobs the two short ones are both black smith made and are far and away better than anything you can buy now :thumbup1:

  10. Its something I've always fancied a go at but I don't think my back would stand it day in day out now, used to do a bit of thinning for local shooting estate but mostly it was stacked to be handballed onto a trailer or pickup, any larch, spruce etc we would cut to 5ft lengths and then saw into hedge laying stakes on site using my old mcconnell bench on the tractor, with regard to the comment/s above about brash and keeping sites tidy I remember two of us thinning a stand of silver birch, they were between 10-18" diameter trees from memory, had to fell, sned and cut to managebale length to handball and stack for collection, I worked by felling one, snedding it and stacking brash and timber then moving onto next one, the lad I was felling with felled about 30 trees without moving anything and ended up with a huge dangerous mess, and by time he'd cleared it all I think we were tree for tree, by the end of the day

  11. Full of flu still (went straight to be at 5pm friday night when I got home) so up the farm to feed round this morning, back home for a sit down and back up the farn this aft to feed round and deliver some hay to a customer and now couple of hours sit down before have to fetch youngest from work, was hoping to finish digging veg patch while its nice but can only manage bout ten mins work before I'm out of breath :001_cool:
