Hey there, Did you manage to pick up a pair of the Prabos Ultra Boots? They've only been out since February so still fresh to feedback but I did speak with a chainsaw carver at the East Anglian Cutters and Climbers show last weekend who was wearing a pair and he said they were a comfortable boot. Hey all and happy new year! Thanks for the discussion and for bringing us up in convo (Trojan Handsaws that is!) We do appreciate feedback and are never looking to settle with our manufacturers design so always keep us posted how you get on and if you have any recommendations. We added the Rollers way back in 2010 and designed the Phat Strop thanks to feedback so for 2014 we are pressing forward with some ideas we have had in the pipeline for both our scabbards and handle fittings. I did chuckle at IC Trees comment about our blades being made of cheese, makes Mondays that bit better if we can smile ey! Hey Dave, as long as there is not a strain on the mount between the chainsaw and the winch I think you are ok, from using it in training I've been holding the winch (with left hand) by the winch handle on the top... But saying that now seeing Big Bolt's photos the winch hook secured into the stump would make far easier work to stablise it in action meaning you only have to hold the chainsaw in normal handle mode. I'll have a look into the Dyneema too, thanks Josh and everyone

Hey Chris, yep I'll be able to supply the winch seperate say for example if you want to use the Dyneema with it instead, as for price I have 10 days to wait for the finalised landed costs then I'll be able to get the best price to you, that ok? Who do you deal with for most of your stuff atm?

Forgot to say, as standard the manufacturer supplies a 150 ft wire.... a few people have said they cut this down by 20-30 ft to reduce the load on the spool.

Was good to get the first demo done leading on from the launch on our stand at the APF, I definitely agree with Angus about the operator left hand nearest to the exhaust at full throttle it did get hot..... I've mentioned this to the manufacturer for the uses with the Husky, the Stihl 441 I demo'd it with before wasn't half as bad. As for power, its recommended on a 50-90 cc chainsaw with a pull of 1.8 ton in straight line mode. Having seen Big Bolt's pictures the way he has secured the winch in a stump with the hook attached is definitely the way to go, it looks steady and secure. Since taking on the Lewis Winch I'd have to say to save time it's well worth having the saw continuously attached... I had to let Angus fiddle with the bolts as I had lost patience with it! All in all so far the feedback has been good though, keep me posted guys what you think.

Hi Dave, 100% always take on feedback, it's what challenges me to think ahead and improve what we do. Speaking with Andy up at the ArbFair North, in the space of a 5 minute convo we got onto the topic of felling wedges and hi-vis jackets, already we have something in the pipeline to show you all at ArborCamp :-) I was in with Justin @ Jonesies on Thursday to briefly get his thoughts on a static option (more to look at prices tbh) and I agree there could be an opportunity to launch a static version. Being honest the only reason for the extension lanyard was that when we was getting feedback and testing alot of people said they switch hands in the tree with their tool meaning if the carabiner was attached on the right it would need to extend comfortably passed the body and to full arm length to the left. The trouble with the static one like you say is the standard length, it would have to be like 1.4m and my thoughts were this would be way too dangly! I don't know whether you have seen a Phat Strop in the flesh, might be worth getting the sample passed on by Andy? If not I'm down on Jonesie's stand at the ArborCamp FR Jones Show so we could catch up then perhaps? Hi Treequip, cheers for the heads up on the Northern Tool front, I've yet to get my copy to see our page.... I hope its down to the performance of the products that we are getting recognised :-) It is interesting though that for many landscapers and orchards (who have always bought our competitor) they now have the option to go with ours like all outdoor pro's do, only difference is I have no reason to get into a price war against you guys :-) Adios Amigos

Hi Andy, Thanks for the feedback and trialling out the Phat Strop. The images certainly give a clearer image of tools demonstrated in use, which i will look into further. Though the product has only been out for 6 weeks I would hope that it has a good life-span, we offer a guarantee service on all our products, as with any tool if you respect it you'll get the best life-span. I appreciate that the Phat Strop may not suit all preferences, that is why i love discussing and learning about the options on here... Even this convo instigated a good chat with you at the ArbFair North, which has given me new paths to look into. On a positive note to those who have been intrigued, the Phat Strop option was taken on board by the majority very well at the ArbFair North. I was inundated with different stories of frustrating incidents involving dropping a handsaw or tool. Just as an example, Keith @ Elston Landscapes highlighted the fact he and a colleague were climbing in school grounds only to drop a handsaw in the bushes below... they spent an hour searching for it and couldn't leave the school site until it was found for safety reasons.... bottomline is they lost out on earnings and wasted time. I heard that 4 entrants in the Climbing Competitions were disqualified as they dropped their handsaw... This could have been so easily avoided. :-s I'm liking the eurovision scoring system... if anyone can add any ratings do keep it rolling... I want to beat Switzerland! ;-D

Good Work Gustharts and all associated organisers, it was a really fun show. Well done to Myerscough College for winning the climbing comp and also East Durham & Houghall College students Ash Richardson and Marc Gillbrand on joint-winning the Finest Cut Competition... Full discs cut just 0.68mm in thickness! Looking forward to the next show already :-D

Hey Ben, good shout on the feedback, just out of interest have you ever come across our polesaws recently? Only reason I say is that with your feedback I hope we can do the same kind of developments with the Phat Strop as we have with the handsaws and polesaws so you have the option much like Stihl and Husqvarna... but Cutting-Edge and Silky. I know the feeling as a walking arb xmas tree when everythings hanging from the harness, as an option the Phat Strop just gives peace of mind and avoids the hassle.
