  1. Never mentioned anything about price mate. I said it's getting hard to promote wood. Thats because everyman and his dog is now selling "firewood" I used to take arbwaste but I alsop took the crap!! - the willow, the poplar and even the chip. I used the crap for myself saving the quality stuff for my customers who in the main were nice honest people - and I was proud of the service I provided. Now if you are a firewood merchant don't have a go at me because the only advice I can give people at the moment is to use a firewood merchant because most aim to provide a good service. Now unseasoned arborists waste, second hand planks, pallets and even house clearance furniture is advertised as firewood on ebay.

    ...........brilliant!
  4. It's getting silly-I fit stoves on a regular basis as a HETAS installer I try to promote wood as an alternative fuel. Not that easy now....
  5. Hi there, are you going to sell this firewood straight away - or is this for next year?
  6. From the pictures I am sure it is Purple Heart. Very resistant to acid and chemical attack - once used by BICC. They had huge tanks containing acids that ate away concrete in a copper refining plant. They decided to construct inspection tanks to monitor the concrete condition , but needed great strength with protection from hydrochloric acid under electric charge. Purple Heart was used but the joiners had a warning that it was highly toxic.... be very :001_huh:carefull of splinters!!!
  7. I am nice...just them horrible customers of mine:001_tt2:
  8. True......sorry......... But I sell firewood, what the hell...
  9. Read back over some of the comments, It would be justice if the arse fell out of firewood sales. And what a guy.....A LACK OF PLANNING ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGANCY ON MINE ! merry xmas. Really, what kind of clown are you. Do you like talking with the mechanic in the pub who rips off the 'punters' cos they should know about cars? I hope if ever you have an emergency, and are dependant on some service, you get an identical d***head like yourself to help you, and hopefully over Christmas. I have read some really good posts on this forum, and enjoyed coming back. At the time there were maybe half a dozen on the firewood forum. Now many of the post are either Del boy types at best, or just downright low life. Well maybe when you get ripped for diesel, short changed, or mugged - don't you just know you deserved it .........
  10. "nobody seems to care about the carbon footprint caused by this and all the haulage, harvesting and pollution caused by the production so why are we worried about the carbon footprint of importing wood??" Well they ought to care, and maybe they do care but feel they can't do alot about it! I care, it's a grandfather thing with me - We don't inherit the world, we borrow it from our kids - Really scares me!!... Maybe an Arbtallk forum should be very mindfull of this, or maybe not. Profit seems to be King, and before you know it electricity and gas will seem quite reasonable forms of energy again regardless of the carbon thingy.
