  1. Ive already got a trailed 6" chipper and 4x4 tipper but im thinking of getting a 25hp compact iseki tractor and a 6" pto driven chipper, i know that it wont take 6" happily but it should take 4", i log anything over that anyway.

i would run a flail mower and from time to time and rotovator in the summer as well so i could fit in well. i would want a demo before i buy but what do you guys think? ive been offered it at a really good price.

hi,a compact 25hp tractor does not produce 25hp at the pto shaft! ive a 1530 ford and that doesnt like my 6 inch jenson chipper.....neither does my fordson dexta .

  2. I currently need to purchase a shipping container and wondered if anybody in the south of England had one they wanted to get rid of for a sensible price.

hi,just seen one on fleebay 19hrs to go located in grays essex 500pound +vat item no 180458701847 dont know if its what u want.ends 29.1.10 @17.21.

  3. lol!! i took my 051 & 076 on a job during xmas week, the climber i had in bought with him a new husky 395xp, laughed at the stihls!! through the biggest cuts, the 395 running a 30" bar couldnt keep up with the 76 on a 36" bar until i ran low on fuel!!! both running roughly about the same time- approx 2 hours i used over a gallon more than the husky!!! then the inevitable 'oldness' begun to show up!! i then carried on with the 051 against the husky, same bar length, inevitably the higher revving husky cut quicker but lost the sharpness of his chain quicker on the dead oak's!!! had a great day comparing old & new, i guess if your relying on your equipment to earn a living the old saw will not do, for the odd job, farmwork etc you cant beat those slow revving, torquey stihls, love em!!!!!!

ha,i like the above, my 075is only to power a mill and due to the fact it has no chainbrake. everyday saws consist of 023,029,341,039,044,064,088,200t. also run 171 danarm . must have another 10+ saws not in use.

  4. whats the 1% doing as an old stihl when hot & stalls can be very hard to start (3-4 pulls is pretty good on restart),adjust the idle screw a tad it must be warm to do this, the idle screw is the brass one on the side of the carb turn it in very slightly it will alter idle speed to stop engine stalling .try this & if no joy let me know

    good luck

hi,did try to turn idle screw in a tad but my chain started to creep turned idle screw 1/2 tad back the other way saw cuts out .may order a new screw. got same problem with exhaust coming loose most of the time....ohh the joys of old chain saws!

  5. After seeing Omniata's thread on the micro dots, i was wondering if anyone uses trackers on such as chippers?

It sounds to me like a combination of micro dots on kit would be great for the opportunist thief on such as saws, (this i might give a go) combined with trackers on such as chippers and trucks.

I still believe insurance is a must, but purely on the basis of inconvenience, getting your own kit back can sometimes be best.

So, what thoughts do people have about viability of trackers on top of the insurance premium we already pay, and do they actually work?

hi, trackers are worth the cost and more, got all my defenders fitted with them, got good discount of nfu as well.so must be worth it just for the peace of mind everything is safe let alone the reduced insurance premium!

  6. I`m thinking about buying a tippimg trailer to use purely off road for moving logs around. I will be pulling it with a John Deere 955 (35hp) any advice greatly appreciated.

hi,lots of old farm trailers had 20 inch diameter wheels and tyres, imo 20 inch tyres are hard too get and expensive so look out for trailers with 16 inch wheels and tyres.

  7. thanks for all your replys starts a lot better now its a 995 not a 990 my mate says hes never seen a 995 before are they rare

sorry no they are/were fairly common years ago both 2 &4 wd models still good tractors and parts are cheep to buy.
