  1. Evening all

Silly question really :blushing: but is it possible to have too many chainsaws in your opinion? How many do you currently have and actually use and do you keep spares etc?

Was thinking of thinning out my small collection but was wondering what the general opinion was of saws to cover the different areas they are needed for

yes,and my better half sez so ,current list off current in use saws is,020,023,026,029,032,341,039,044,064,066,088!and i dont do tree work full time.saws not in current use 171ss,08,3120.

  2. hi,i will try to get some pics this week, they are filled with inhibitor fluid when put in storage by mod...so should run maybe a little tinkering who knows? all have 25 inch bar(windsor) and windsor or oregon chain with lots of life left.chain breaks on all saws, some have a box/create they came in.....had 032 stihl running today and cut a load of logs, not a bad old saw.

  3. just having a spring sort out in one of our barns and came across a job lot of chain saws i bought off the mod at auction many years ago.the chain saws are danarm 1-7-1 and1-7-1ss all have 25 inch bars. anybody used one or any feedback/ comments on them?i have 6 of the above chain saws so ill stick them on classifieds/ fleebay.the saws were put into mod storage on 15/12/93....also have found a 032 av stihl plus a few wizzer saws.

  4. hi,a friend of mine has for sale a wessex(jenson)518 pto chipper on a home built unbraked trailer. the chipper has its own hyd rollers and only needs a12v electric supply .chipper works ok used it the other day.it does not have any anti strees system fitted but its not a major problem.

  5. am i right in thinking you need to drain oil from each side and refill with a 'one-shot' of grease? then it can't leak anymore..

yes ,it will slow the leak down but either fit a pair of new swivel balls(NOT A BAD JOB)or fill your pitted holes up with araldite or liquid metal then when its dry and hard sand down till its smooth. its does work and lasts for a good while but long aset off swivel balls are needed.

  6. Here's the statement and list of stuff going for auction in ellesmere, shropshire.

    Dear Fellow Arborist

Tree Surgery Business Closing Down and Auction of Assetts

My name is Nick Lumb and I have made furniture and done tree surgery in Wrexham and surrounding areas for the last 11 years. I am now shutting down my tree surgery company Acorn ArborCare Ltd and stopping doing tree surgery in order to concentrate on my bespoke furniture business.

One of my unique selling points has been the ability to take a standing tree and turn it into a beautiful piece of furniture; is this a service that you would like to offer to appropriate customers with suitable trees? You would do the tree work and I would make the furniture. Please see my (currently being redeveloped) website for an idea of my style and quality of work. (The tree surgery details will go during the redevelopment).

Now that I now longer do tree work, I will also be needing plankable quality logs, particularly oak but also ash, yew, cherry and walnut of significant size. This is for customers who want me to make furniture but not from their own tree.

If this form of partnership is of interest to you, please email or ring me, or I will see you at the auction.

Finally, I have some kit to sell off at auction including: a Jensen A530T tracked chipper with trailer, a gas converted 130” wheelbase 3.5 litre landrover tipper, Stihl 088 chainsaw, lowering kit and hedgetrimmers. I attach a more comprehensive list to the end of this email (Note that the order of the sale will be different from this list).

The auction starts at 11am on Tuesday 30-Mar-10 at

    The Wharf Saleroom

    Ellesmere

    Shropshire

    SY12 0EJ

    Viewing is from Saturday 27-Mar-10 from 10 to 12 noon;

    Monday 29-Mar-10 9.00am to 5.00pm

And morning of the sale from 9.00am

    Best regards

hi,are the sale prices plus vat or not and is there any buyers premium or not ? SEE YOU THERE .

  7. When I did the 32, the instructor said that the 33 didnt involve anything more than the 32 and wasnt worth doing considering the difficulty in getting suitable trees. Is that what you found now you've done the 33?

had the same conversation as youre self, but managed to do mine a few years ago on the grovenour estate at chester as they had a few large trees which were suitable for the course.having trouble finding some where local to do my windblown/storm damaged ,but threres no rush ....yet!

  8. :confused1:I can load mine up with well over a ton and pull the vermeer at 70 other than on the hills..they're not THAT slow...:001_rolleyes:And im running 285 BFG muds, and have a rofrack, standard 300tdi.:confused1:

ditto,my 110 300tdi will do the same, but my 110 td5 will sit at 70 with 3.5 tons behind it both landys on 235 bfg muds!

  9. Land rovers could be forced to slow down on motorways if government proposals are brought in.

Models with more than eight seats could be limited to 65mph on motorways, while those with a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes or more-130-inch Defenders, say- may be restricted to 60 mph on motorways.

Currently, the limit is 70mph in both cases.

A consultation period runs from february 2 to april 27. If you want to know more or put your views forward see http://tinyurl.com/cutspeedlimit.

As taken from April issue land rover owner magazine.
