  1. Hi all, I'm thinking of smartening up my wood chipper as the chassis is rusty, the panels looking tatty and all round a bit shabby but a good reliable machine. What do you reckon is the best was to carry this out? Shot blasting? and would I be looking at powder coating or a respray? Any idea of cost? Anyone out there done theirs?
  2. Thanks. For the size of machine, pulling in power and ease of maintenance its the best chipper I've used.
  3. Yes, back and forth play on it and squeals when you take the slack out of the rope. Have greased the nipple on the front but no joy.

  12. I have been using the ARS V8 Secateurs since 2002, in my opinion they are far superior to any on the Felco range and a much better price! We were trimming a hedge we did 2 years ago and found a pair of V8s we had lost. Still sharp, no rust and work perfectly!
  13. I am after a good second hand Jensen 530 preferably low hours and not too old. Cash waiting!
  14. I had the same problem on my landy tipper, I spoke to the hydraulic pump manufacturer and they told me how to turn the pump up. On mine it was the side of the pump body, loosen the locking nut and with a screwdriver give it a half to one turn and re-tighten locking nut. Heypresto it tips with a full load on. I was warned not to turn it up too much because it could damage the seals in the ram. Good luck!
  15. Yes I really should read through before I submit my post! I shall copy the relevant bits this time!?!; Derogations. 16. Does this count? I took this from the GB driver hours rules. Vehicles or combinations of vehicles with a maximum permissible mass not exceeding 7.5 tonnes that are used: • by universal service providers as defined in Article The only universal service provider in the UK at 2(13) of Directive 96/67/EC of the European the time of publication (September 2007) is the Royal Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 1997 Mail. Universal service provider vehicles must have a on common rules for the development of the internal tachograph fitted. market of community postal services and the improvement of quality service to deliver items as part of the universal service; or • for carrying materials, equipment or machinery This would apply to tradesmen such as electricians or for the driver’s use in the course of his work. builders carrying tools or materials for their own use. These vehicles shall be used only within a 50 km radius of the base of the undertaking and on the condition that driving the vehicle does not constitute the driver’s main activity. If you are not exceeding a total train weight of 7500kg; lets say your transit 3500kg + chipper 1300kg within 30 miles of your home. Then I read this as you are not required to have a tachograph.?? Oh yes, I couldn't be bothered to read all 7 pages of posts so someone might have said this already!

  19. I have always thought it was an old wives tail. Today I was asked to look at dead willow tree, the owner is convinced that the adjacent neighbour had killed it to improve his view. Hammered in at the base of the tree were two copper nails, so I thought I'd do some research on the web. About 50% said it did and 50% said it did'nt, so I thought I'd ask the experts but I could'nt find any so I asked you lot!
  20. Heres one for you all - copper nails - do they kill trees? Old wives tail or fact?
