  1. Great video, don't know if I will ever have the time to make one though - maybe when retired?
  2. Does it effect all species of Ash trees? I saw some young Ash trees looking like photo 1 back in the early summer at a local hospital, at the time thought it was drought. Will have to have another look.
  3. the higher the carbon content of the steel the harder and more brittle it becomes when hardened. to stop it breaking the steel is tempered (heat up to straw colour or blue and quench in oil or water), this softens the steel slightly retaining most of the hardness. If you overheat the steel and let it air cool it is normalised (softer again). I have used this principle at work many times to both harden and soften steel. Alloy steels will react differently
  4. I will be selling an lwb transit 190 tipper soon (T reg), it will do for a first vehicle to get you started. 3 seater not crew cab.
  5. see you there on Thursday
  6. A farmers son near us died when gasing rabbits - wear the mask..
  7. worked on a spruce and a blue pine tree and both had healthy tips and die back in the centre. I also concluded that it was caused by the draught as there are no other signs of distress.
  8. Looks good. I also have a transit tipper body and gear lined up - just need to check the hydraulics before stripping it out. Mine is a flat bed that is jacked up too high so was thinking of doing something similar. like your idea to get large storage area, had been wondering how to do it. Thanks Gordon
  9. Thanks, looks like only surface rust so I will clean up and paint.
  10. Just bought a defender 130 flat bed to convert to a tipper, so would appreciate any advice.
  11. softwood can cause sooting up of flues and leave a tar like residue, it also burns quicker so you need more of it. hope this helps Gordon
