  1. Has anyone uprated the springs on a a 3.5 ton iveco?

Can you just stick springs from a 6.5 toner on it?

A bit of a run for you but Paddington Springs in Wembley by the stadium do a drive in drive out service. They have done a few vans of mine over the years top quality service fella

  2. Not many on here will know him but a great Arborist died yesterday after having many strokes at 60 yrs old. Those of you who have worked in West London over the last 35 years would have no doubt have come across him.

Remembering you my friend and mentor

  3. Thanks for replys. Yeah feed rollers not the chipping blades.

Bought the complete kit from gareth at spectrum (great service). It includes roller body, blades, bearings, spline drive.

Managed to get old ones off today, both bearing were shot. It had an older sealed bearing with the welded spline drive. The other one was the newer plastic type but with no grease nipple!

Also one of the motors had damaged splines resulting in a rounded spline drive, so will have to get a new motor as well 😢

    Will try upload some pics

Is it an Eaton motor ?

  4. Just bought a complete top and bottom roller kit for my 98 150. Any tips or things to look out for when replacing the old ones?

    Many thanks

Is that just the bolt on knives ? If memory serves they can be a git to unbolt. Or did you get complete rollers? check the wear on the splines of the roller motors

  5. It depends. How has it been stored is the key, fabric degrades in UV light, if the kit has been stored in the dark you can introduce it and start your 5 year usage from there. But you must have documented history to show when it was bought into service. We inspectors use date of manufacture usually as there is no date of introduction paperwork. Another example is a rescue kit that is never used could potentially be fit for purpose for 10 years or more. Remember that the 6 monthly regime for PPE is a MAXIMUM time limit between inspections.

  6. How many used zigzags will make it to ten years? Surely the friction plates will wear out before then?! Rendering the warranty a very clever but almost meaningless bit of PR....

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Arbtalk mobile app

Dan dont forget there might be Zig Zags that are rarely used or used less than a full time climber would use!! Also recommended lifespan of metal PPE is 10 years so effectively a lifetime guarantee :thumbup:
