Well im the harvester driver so any ruts are gona be my own fault And I would love a shogun ...but I noticed that shogun have toned down the body. the 06 / 07 body used to look really agressive but theve toned the body down now. Pure asthetics but the shogun still looks good

UPM Tillhill have selected there biomass contractors and even in an economic situation that the country is now contractors are placing orderers for brand new clambunk forwarders and tubgrinders to suit the operation. With all the new biomass plants opening and contracts forming with the FC and other comapanys. Theres some money there.

Well my use for it would be getting in to which ever forest where working at. So im gona be carring a few toolboxes in it and hydralic parts. What attracted me to the freelander over the defender is its much more comfy and warm at 5am in the morning. But its clearly less rugged. We genrally use the same track as the harvester and forwarder use so ruts tend to appear and itrs gona have to cover some rough tracks. The current freelander im looking at is only £1500 and is near 200,000 miles The guy who owns it currently use's it for forestry and has looked after it very well. Thanks for all the response so far

Hey guys Ive been looking in to buying a Landrover Freelander TD4 Commercial 2.0 Diesel 4x4 But Ive heard mixed opinions on this vehicle and was wondering if anybody has had ever owned one and how they performed?

That doesent make any sense The forwarder and harvester always run on the brash. There is no way around it. Brash can be collected up later or if its going to be bailed all brash timber should be cut to 1m or less. By not using brash under the machine all you would be doing is damaging the ground and your tyres. But interestingly do the FC leave 20% to degrade back in to the ground?

From what ive read and driven you can find nearly any tractor make that has been converted to forestry at some point. most of it is custom ...naturally. From my experience The college im at has an Massey furguson with a Botex crane on ..... its crap. And has a Valmet tractor with winch and pulls a forwarding trailer and is a decent machine.

Im working a local woodland near my home owned by the local farmer how do you work it? Chainsaw and a cart what did you pay for it? (if you don,t mind telling) I thin out the overgrown woodland for the farmer leaving him with a tidy woodland with potental in the future and then I keep all the timber thats thinned out. what do you get out of it? Firewood ranging mostly from a diamiter of 4cm-10cm do you enjoy it? Came back from college for Xmas and used many of the skills I learn in the wood. I do enjoy thinning out the trees making a rough track for my cart and then hauling out next winters firewood knowing its my production. There are quite alot of disused woodlands around the country and if like me you know the local farmer and notice the disused and overgrown woodland he owns theres a chance to get a load of free firewood and revitalise a woodland. Cheap and productive

How about getting a paper brick maker and mixing the chips and paper together. Would make a good firelighter once dried out.
