  1. some off todays logging, been using the palax just as a log splitter filled the truck twice on me tod, automated the splitter with few pully ropes to speed up production :001_smile:

How do you get on with the Palax?

  2. when i lived in Norway we use to pack firewood in nets on Euro pallets using a steel frame that fitted over the pallet and stretched the net open. It was a realy good system for storing and drying firewood the pallet alows air to pass under the wood so it drys from all sides

To keep it dry we stacked them 3 high in a square of nine palletswith air space in between in a clearing in the wood next to the farm. Then we over layed corrigated roffing tin on top to keep the rain off and then we droped some big logs on top to stop the tins blowing off. Becuase it was in a clearing the wind did not blow rain in from the side because it was quite sheltered.

The system work well over thier however the stacks were covered in snow for 6 months of the year so i dont know how well it would work well over heer.

Oh and the Scottish Paintball Centre has a whole load of those IBC frames dumped in the dyke back that they removed from the big square tanks. they use the tanks as baricades

    Something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2WzrsFKuGk&eurl=http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5642&page=2

Do you know where these nets can be sourced?

  3. The nearest I can see in the UK is the Posch Packfix palleting system. Jas P Wilson have an ex-demo machine for sale.

However I have seen elsewhere in this forum a great idea using a pallet and some ryloc net fencing. Just as effective and a good deal cheaper. Can any clever forumers find the link?

    Is this what you mean?

  4. As I said - I am open to all suggestions. What do you think is sensible bearing in mind that the log stacks are often tucked away behind the garage etc.

I throw logs loose in an open shed and find they are fine after a year. I would imagine if you stack wet logs tightly in the wrong conditions they still wont be dry in 3 years. Just my opinion! I aint no expert!

  5. What I sell is irrelevant to this debate - "if you recommend the customer dries fresh wood for 2-3 years before burning, then the stuff you sell should be of the same quality." Why should it? As long as I tell them these logs were a tree last week and that they will need to keep them for 2-3 years before they will be fit to burn then there will be no surprises and I will still have a happy customer. It is not what we sell that matters - it is how we sell it!

But do they really have to keep it for this long before burning? :confused1:

  6. i dont know, i meant to phone him today! there was brief mention of the first example of a new piece of equipment they are bringing out, he didnt tell me what though.

Well I'm in Ireland and I'm not involved in the Arb industry so maybe you could give my prizes to someone that would in turn make a donation to the charity?? I'll leave it with you Steve... Thanks.
