  1. Basically want to eliminate the two man aspect of the oldskool saw horse and chainsaw operation, and am thinking a pto log saw like the 'Balfor 700c'

    SC 600/700 | Balfor

or the 'Major' version Saw Bench | Saw Bench | MAJOR.

Apparently the Major will double cut, but haven't been able to establish whether or not the Balfor or any other subsequent model will do this.

Can anyone recommend any other brand that i might be able to get my hands on. :thumbup1:

(have looked at the Saw/cone splitter combi's btw, but not keen on paying an extra grand for the little splitter).

What do you mean by 'double cut'? :blushing:

  2. Sam can I ask a favour. If you find yourself next to your truck with a tape measure. Could you measure from the back of the cab to the end of the chassis. The extra cab has a better load cap by 500kg over the single cab. I am thinking of getting my tipper body put on one. I did a cheapo job on an old hilux with a new body with the intension of putting it on a newish truck if it proved itself. Its so far been indestructable but there is only so much abuse a 12 year old truck will take.

I thought the single cab would have more load space :confused1:

  3. A friend of mine has made me a custom log splitter, and has now made a second for himself. Would anyone be interested in one as he is thinking of doing this on a regular basis. It has a seven inch splitting wedge, and splits wood up to 700mm long. Need flow rate of at least 30l/min and has return rate of 20 seconds on tractor tick over. £1100?

Without seeing pictures it seems a bit pricey. :001_unsure:

Not sure what the average return rate is, but 20 seconds sounds a bit of a wait :001_huh:

  4. We can produce at the prices we do without fail as our other businesses support the raw material we need to be ultra competitive within the kindling sector, this along with the 80k investment made within the last month brings new methods to the table which will ensure a fixed long term price based on the order quantity and commitment received from our new customer base?

What size are the bags? They look loosely filled?

  5. I don't check arbtalk every day.. It's still for sale, I'm not in any rush and am busy. When I checked I had a number of offers. Obviously I am going to listen, especially if one involves me finding a pallet and organising shipping.

You have been online numerous times since I sent you the PM.

I asked if you could put it on a pallet ( hardly a huge task) I never expected you to ship it, I would have arranged collection once my payment had cleared.

    No longer interested anyway. :thumbup1:

  6. If a firewood merchant can get £200/m3, I say good luck to him.

After production costs are taken into account, its down to supply and demand after that.

It would be a pretty rubbish businessman that wouldnt try to get the best price possible for his product.
