  6. i work on the 275 and 400kv powerlines. i now see pylons as bloody big trees!
  7. just found this, sorry for poor quality but its off a phone. was a beech in darlington. 2 weeks before i left we got this job through and i bagged it. rest of the tree was dismantled in bits cos it was too near the houses but a pull rope got this top off in a oner. the stem at that cut about 36". saw was a 044 and i loved it:001_tt1: [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YFc3uTKc7Z8[/ame]
  8. i had to do it as atrial when doing my dismantling nptc unit, pain to set up but fun watching the tip get winched up past me and sent through the crown to the other side of the tree for dropping. all experimental and fun. never used it after that though. stil, new ideas n all that
  9. dont go with a chip, bad newws for engines as they just fool your engine into thinking its getting more cold air than it is, pay a bit more and get an ecu re-map. loads safer and loads more tuneable. ive got a bora pd130, had it remapped to 170bhp and 410nm torque. stax o fun and better mpg. pulls like a train. doesn't smoke neither. just watch your clutch though!
  10. nah, you hold it in! i was nearly pissed on during my training though! ive pissed in the estuary at morecambe midspan at about 250ft up with boats going under, bit o a shower for them! ide actually finished pissin before it had hit the water!
  11. ha ha, i love this thread. i was an arborist in north east but moved onto the 400kv powerline work. everyone says i must be mad to wotk on 2-300ft pylons, but when your up there, your busy, and you dont realise where you are. gotta trust your gear too! i miss the big deadwoods and reductions tho! nowt like being at the end of a real long limb taking tips or deadwood off.
