  1. So that's it.Steady drive back with some great tunes playing.The old Navara did the job as usual.Tyres performed superb on winding country roads as well as motorway in heavy rain.I enjoyed sharing daily posts again.It's what i do......

So that's all folks....i'm heading back home.Gives me a couple of days with my Family before i go back to work.Spent almost the whole day with the Tree.Examining it.Photographing it and sitting in the sun just being around such an amazing living thing! Just had Lamb shank in the pub next door to the churchyard where it stands....Goodbye Wales....Has the best time.

  5. GoPro'd the whole climb....i really have to learn how to edit together a short film.I have some great content.Tree work too.
  6. What an atmosphere at the Summit yesterday...i met a Japanese Monk,A runner (1 hour 7 mins) and two lads who raced up for charity.
  7. Bear in mind that these show the outside parts of the tree.The inside has long gone.This tree was collossul and still has an huge crown.You can still see the outline of the trunk in the ground.For me it is the most incredible feeling i get standing with the most venerable of Yews.It's an incredible Tree.I shall spend a day here returning to it and as the light changes photograph it.

I have come to the end of my Pilgrimage.To what i consider to be the "Holy Grail" of Trees.Certainly in my world.I love all trees from rare seeds...to Amenity trees...trees in Arboretums,Tallest...etc... but for me it is trees that have stood the test of time.The Ancient one's and in paticular Taxus Baccata.
  9. The journey down was spectacular! Uplifting sunset.I have a few hundered photos to sort through from yesterday's journey and climb.Most beautiful drive i have ever known but there is a little matter of this morning's meeting with my favourite of all trees..........
  10. I'm not sure Wes. There was a car park with a youth Hostel and it was at the foot of the mountain.
  11. Then i raced off into the Hills and the Brecon Beacons.....
  12. Just got signal after several hours of blackout.Entered Wales via Cardiff so went to meet my Splicer Mathew Norman and visit his workshop.

  15. It is almost time to set course for wales..and leave this ancient Yew for a meeting with my favourite Tree of them all and it is Much...MUCH...Older!
  16. Found an interesting stone whist walking along the beach and being the Romantic i am....left my heart with the Tree.
  17. Left my room of two nights and said goodbye to the Owners of the B&B.Back next year i shoulf imagine....time to bid farewell to the Porlock Yew.

  21. Did find some of your relalives in the cemetary 5 Shires so i did some research.....
