  1. Nice carving Bob :thumbup1:

My other half sells some of my carvings at local farmers markets, the one thing ive noticed is the more detailed / more expensive carvings don't sell as well / quickly as mushrooms, don't know why but im constantly having to do mushrooms. Pricing stuff is tricky, i just carve for fun, so as long as i get my costs back and a small profit im happy so sorry i cant help you with that perfect price.

  2. Can anyone help me find info on the decay Strategy of Inonotus hispidus in relation to Quercus cerris.

The reason for asking is, i came across a monster bracket fruiting at about 20’ on a reasonably healthy looking mature 65’ Q, cerris which leans about 10 degree towards a road. A previous vta suggested that the tree has some audible signs of hollowing to the lower trunk, but never seen any fb’s on it. I know that I. hispidus causes a Simultaneous white rot however the difference in the degradation of wood seems to differ between species, and can’t seem to find anything specific to Q, cerris.

Thanks in advance for any info, and will post some pics next week.

  3. Ill see your 8years and raise it by another 3. This is fruiting from a Beech that was felled in 2000 and left as a high stump, five years ago i cut it to ground level and soiled over. Is it proven that there is only one sp of M. giganteus, or is there a similar more sapro type?
