  1. I've been following this thread with great interest. After years of working on design and development of protetcive products, it was brought to my attention several moths ago, the inadequesy of first aid kits for injuries caused by hand saws and chainsaws. At very best these injuries are inconvienient at worst life threatening. Yet first aid kits only comprise of either plasters and safety pins or a blood stopper. Plasters may have a use for small nicks and a blood stopper will soak up blood, but with a serious injury the most important thing is to stop the bleeding completely. After many conversations with arborists and first aiders I came up with a product which we believe is perfect for our industry. It is a haemostatic granule which is poured into the wound and compressed for 30 seconds stopping bleeding completely. Even bleeding from severe injuries such as a cut femoral artery can be stopped in minutes. In military tests in the USA, this product achieved a 100% survival rate. You may like to read more on their web site http://www.celoxmedical.com/?gclid=CM6rw66e6pMCFQs4QgoddQ2wzA I also have a short video showing the use of Celox which although a bit gory really shows its effectiveness. If you would like to see the video mail me at [email protected]. We have already arranged with Celox to distribute this product to our market and very shortly it will be available through our network of dealers. We are also working on the design of a suitable pack to hold Celox along with a compression bandage onto a harness. If anyone would like any more information about Celox or would like to know where to obtain it please give me a call 01228 591091
  2. I just saw this thread As mentioned on a previous thread about chain sharpeing, I have a limited supply of DVD's produced by Vallorbe of Switzerland showing the correct way to hand sharpen a chain. If anyone would like a copy please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send a copy FOC on a first some first served basis
  3. Although both Cobra and Boa systems were designed by the same man Dr Lothar Wessolly, there are many differences in the 2 systems. The Boa system is now simpler and more advance. The main differences are the Boa cabling is a more open weave making it much simpler to splice with no tools requires. Apart from the cable, all components on the 2 tonne, 4 tonne and the soon to be introduced 8 tonne systems are common. To insert the shock absorber in the Boa system you dont need to use lubricant, you also dont need to heat seal an end cap on the Boa cable. The Boa system has a working life of 12 years compared to 8 years on Cobra and all other systems. Have a look at the Boa web site http://www.arboa.com if you need any other info
  4. Different solutions to different problems are always being researched. Believe it or not we do listen to comments by climbers to refine our products but this always has to be within the condines of standards
  5. Thanks for the commendation Peter. Climbers want more and more features, comfort, ergomomics and useabilty. To achiebe this you have to be radical with design as long as its tried tested approved and safe there is no problem
  6. No shortcut it part of the design. The moebius loops which give you a self aligning triangulation become a wear part the same as the bridge therefore you have to have a CE certified method of replacement. Shackles are the only way. The shackles now have a sealing wax applied at the factory which allows 4 opening and closings without the need for locktite. Should you open and close more than this you can either apply your own locktite or but new shackles. If the moebius loops were not relaceable I am sure this would have more criticism.
  7. I hope I can put some input into the point of chain sharpening. I have around 50 DVD's produced by Vallorbe of Switzerland who are the worlds largest manufacturers of chain files. The DVD shows how to sharpen a chain as weell as the reasons why. If anyone particularly anyone in a training capacity e-mails me at [email protected] I will gladly send them out for free on a first come first served basis. Another issue in traing I would like to see is the care and maintenance of chainsaw protective clothing and foowear along with the true fact regarding the level of protection offered in relation to saw speeds
  8. The past few days we have been inundated with calls regarding the new Morpho harness. I can confirm that there will be harnesses at the AA show on the Honeys, Winchester GM, F R Jones, Carrs and Sorbus stands. I believe that Justin from F R Jones will have 1 in a tree and there will also be a harness on the Tree climbers forum stand for anyone to try. Naturally we will have harnesses to show on our stand too. If you would like to know more please come and talk to us at the show
