    Hi Dan,

I have a danequip grinder which is pretty much identical to your Dosko.  If it is the hydrostatic belt that you are wearing through then it is likely to be a tensioning issue.  I had the same problem and was using a new belt in about 1 hour until I got the tension right, which took about three attempts.

What was the issue, too tight or too loose?

  2. I used those ultrasecure alarms a while ago. Don’t think that i paid anywhere near that amount for them though. I think that the reason i gave up on them was that they were so temperamental, especially the fob to switch on and off, plus false alarms which is annoying when it’s at a storage container.
A cheap £9 Lidl one saved my tools a few years back. When some scum bust into my garage.

I had exactly the same issues with the ultra secure alarm.

I know what you mean, I have just bought a 6 wheel plant lorry with a  28 ton mtr crane with four extensions off a mate . Truck can only carry about 12 ton so only good for one bit of kit at a time which is a pain but its handy for nipping about on smaller jobs, its certainly never going to replace the artic and trailers. . Tore the laterals off this windblown with the crane and chain today to reduce it down which also got rid of most of the soil and then ripped it out of the ground, all done in less than an hour so it does have other uses .

Shaun was trying to sell that truck to me the other day [emoji1360][emoji1360]

  4. I'm parked in a layby near Aylesbury with no headlights working on my 18t lorry.
Sidelights work but not bright enough to drive by.
    Bulbs and fuses are ok.
Anyone know an auto electrician in this area?

  5. Hi Al,

Yes, though only uprated to 3000kg. Can't go higher than that without a different ratio rear dif, which would mean a different front dif and it's just not worth going into. I'm bang on 3000kg when towing the forwarder, so I'm OK.

SV Tech just need proof of the rating of the tow hitch and a few other details and they'll handle the uprating. Was around £275 if memory serves

Ok Cheers. I'll give SVTech a call. Your Sprinter is 4x4 though isn't it, so may have different diff to mine.

Used them years ago to down rate a 7.5t to 7t so I could tow a bigger chipper. Got hgv licence now so no problem.

The forwarder will just fit on my old trailer, but will overhand a fair bit at both ends. Not ideal, but would do in a fix. Still looking for trailers - it's a tough one.

    Hi Big J,

Did you get your Sprinter towing capacity sorted?

I've got a 313 Sprinter and would be handy to tow up to 3500kg at times. It has an uprated 3.5t tow bar fitted already, so wondering if it needs anything else, or just a call to SVTech?

    Cheers

    Al

  7. I think the single wheeled transit and Cabstar GVW is rated lower then the twin wheeled versions.

Have found after driving single and twin wheeled Cabstar, that the twin wheeled version drive better.

Found that with the single rear wheel the truck did sway from side to side when the wood chip was loaded high.

Where did you have the body made for the sprinter. Looks very smart.

The body was done by Boulter Tippers in Tadley near Basingstoke.

You're in a better position than many as Guildford has the only public weighbridge in Surrey and Sussex I think. Else you can always put a bit of scrap in it and weigh it in.

Colliers Environmental at Lyne will let you drive over their weighbridge . If you want a print out they charge £5
