Hi James,

apologies, your message didn't show up on my phone so Ive only just got it.

With regard to work, Id suggest looking on Buy online and sell with NZ's #1 auction & classifieds site | Trade Me as theres always jobs on there under arborist. You could also look on Seek. Alternatively, both Treescape and asplundh have agreements with immigration with regard to bringing in overseas workers which could ultimately make your life easier with regard to a work visa. They are the two biggest employers in the country but you may find yourself just a number although a lot of the guys there are good guys. It depends on your qualifications, experience and where you want to work. Feel free to ask any questions, Regards, Ian

  2.
I'll try and call you later if I can. My phone is 0273933691.

  3.
Hi Peter, the chipper has been awesome although, since it was damaged in a crash and rebuilt, we've had a cracked bell housing, loose belt and the murphy switch needed replacing. if you're buying you get the one with the bigger hydraulic pump on it. We had a loan one while ours was rebuilt and it didn't feed as well as ours due to a smaller pump on it. The chipper itself has been fantastic. Everything we have ever thrown at it, it does. We also have the winch on it. Service and all dealings with Hydralada have been great but be warned, they know how to charge. If you can find a service agent close to where you are you'll be much better off. Last service was in excess of $2K. Spares are sent our quickly and Steve Cartwright (sales agent) knows his stuff. If you want to come down and have a look at ours, feel free or I believe Paul Kenny also has one and he's a little closer. A guy I worked with used a BC1000 before he came on with us and he reckoned the difference was night and day.

  4.
Thanks Merle. Apologies for the late reply but i've only just seen your message. Just returned from San Francisco after nearly 6 weeks in the US. Now to start planning for the next trip. Where are you based by the way?

  5. Hi Robin,

Sounds good. I work six days a week but am available most evenings. Sunday is usually the best time to get me as I try and keep the day free to spend wandering around home or going in to Taupo for breakfast. You can get me either on 027 7427011, 027 3933691 or 07 3866399. If I don't answer leave a message and I'll get back to you as sometimes we don't bother answering the phone until I know who it is (saves dealing with sales people). We can meet up and have a yarn over coffee or something. Let me know where you're staying in town. Look forward to catching up, cheers, Ian

  6. Hey Bro, cleared my inbox if you want to try messaging me again.

  7. I'm working all weekend unfortunately bro but if I get time on Sunday after my other jobs I'll give you a buzz and we can catch up.

  8. I work for both Taupo District Council and myself (treeline arbor care). I used to be based out of Treescape's Hamilton yard when I worked for them so know a few of the boys up that way. I also ran Treescape's Northern Utilities out of Silverdale for a couple of years so a few names from around the country I reckognize maybe from conversations with others.

  9. From NZ I think mate. Not sure though. How long you been in NZ?

  10. Hey Chris, yeah Bro, came out in 98. There's a few of us on Arbtalk. I have to say I reckognize your name from somewhere but can't place it. If you're down in Taupo let me know and me and my offsider will catch up for a coffee if you're keen. I'll keep my eye out for an arborist. I know there's a trainee down here that's looking for a job but don't know what he's like. You could always check out the Treescape cast offs.

  11. Hi Andrew, if you want to email some of your details such as qualifications, where you want to work and doing what, if this is a permanent move etc, what your wife does for a living and then I can get a better idea of the info to give you rather than blithering on with a load of waffle that doesn't really apply to you. Drop me a line on [email protected] or [email protected] and I'll try and clue you up on the process, what you need etc. Just bear in mind that arborists are on the skills shortage list at the moment and the government is trying to encourage people here so your chances are good.

  12. Not me Dave. I actually don't know anyone who has just brough a bandit over but I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a new one about. Do you have any more details?

  13. Hi Dave,

When were you at Riseholme? I was there in 1989/1990 and studied forestry under Steve Vanstone, Steve Fox and the mad scotsman, Angus. I then did the Conservation course with Rob Widdicombe. Long time ago so the memory is a bit vague these days but not sure if you were the chap that used to wander amongst the carnations down in the glass houses preaching about white fly etc. Regards, Ian Ashmore.
