nice pic mate. shame it took so long to take down. dam English oak
  4. i'm not shore how happy bbb would be it you stuck your saw through a pair of stretch air's. like you did with the last pair of trousers. slow and steady mate and a bit of forward planning up the tree will get you round the tree much easier . plus listen to your forman. THATS WHY HE IS THERE... sorry was i ranting.
  5. yes it was. a amazing space. on to mark two. bigger and better.
  6. just a quick up date on the dome cover. and yes it is a old arm parachute. and heres a youtube link of the build [ame] [/ame].
  7. Jamie. to get round the splicing into the ring. do you think i could just us a figure of 8 Descender. and just splice into the small ring. just a idea. plus you can pick one up for about £7.00.
  8. thanks for the comments. looks like the best thing to do is to take out the krab. and use a ring instead. the only reason i used the krab is that the pulley pulls through better. will look at getting a ART ring. although i think with the splice it mine not pull through as well. at least it will give me an excuse to do some more splicing.
  9. Hi all. here my new friction saver. I'm such a skin flint i made my own. got most of the ideas of here so thanks to every one for all there posts. feed back always welcome.
  10. yes mate. the good old days. ah ah
  11. yep. nice to get some new stuff mate. its been a week and i still haven't managed to Rouen them.
  12. pic of the dome with a cover will be on as soon as we get one made. next few weeks should think. going to be pricey i should think. if its to much i think we will go down the Parachut rought for a bit...
  13. tell me about it. going to where a hard hate next time it comes down. its like rainning sticks...
  14. took in total to make up about 3 weeks of evenings. three hours to put up and about a hour to take down.
  15. just with a nut and bolt. each stick has a metal lug on the end with a hole. and yep it is to get a cover. going to have to do some ringing round for that bit.
  16. i know this has nothing to do with trees. but i thought you guys would like the work that went into my geodome. its all made out of hazel collected in local woodland in the west midlands. This it the first dome i have made. so was very happy that it went up without a hitch.

    rope

Well as far as I’m concerned. Way carry a 13mm rope round a tree when you can carry a lighter 11m rope round that dose the same job. Any thing to make the job easier..

    cord

think he's using Distel. This is not set in stone but if you’re climbing on 13mm rope then look at using a 10 mm cord. If your climbing on 11mm rope then use’s 8mm cord. This is only a ruff guide. Hope this helps
  20. I climb on a Distel. leg length doesn’t matter some much with this knot. But the type of cord you use and how many raps you put into the knot will. Finding the right combo is the key. Don’t make the legs of the knot to long as it only waist enjoy when ascending. And know less than three raps. This is not set in stone but if you’re climbing on 13mm rope then look at using a 10 mm cord. if your climbing on 11mm rope then use’s 8mm cord. This is only a ruff guide. Hope this helps
  21. ok think this is right. the first pic is the front of the knot and the other pic is of the back of the knot. hope this helps:001_smile:
  22. yep good knot. do you need to know how to try it?
  23. yep looked at that route and yes very expencive.
  24. hi all am looking into trying my hand at training people to climb. I love my job. But have been up and down trees for the last 11 years and I feel like I need a new challenge. Any one know any courses or people I can contact for more information. Thanks all
