  5. Got mine on a keen price last week from an agricultral equipment dealer up in North Norfolk, has some useful features like a preset return stop setter, good wheels on the base and very solidly built and finished. Split up med sized oak no pbs at all. I think that 6 tonne is about the max you can on 13amp supply, came with a splitting cross as well. http://www.texas.dk I was looking at an Atika 5.5 tonne but was being mucked about by Northern tools.
  6. What about compression with the log splitter rigged up to stamp a brick out see my cider making post on the genral forum
  7. On telly last night BBC2 "Its hard trying to be green" with dick the tache They were showing how easy it appears to make cider on a small scale Well as prune do quite a few apple trees in domestic gardens (loads of freebies in autum) I was thinking to squash the apples down with the log splitter machine, what i need is a sturdy steel container with a load of holes in the bottom for the juice to run out into a collecting container. Anyone tried bodging something up like this to make an apple press. Clive
  8. I witnessed a same sort of incident just comming away from a quote i was doing,in surrey would you believe, I saw 4 hoodies trying to rob a pizza delivory boy Whom they pushed him off his moped and trying to break his chained on money wallet.I was in the landy and mounted the pavement and one of them just managed to jump clear. The one that had his arm around the neck of the victim got the biggest smack in the mouth that he probally ever got and his nose split blood and DNA all over the my clothes int he resulting bundle, I did ask him nicely, first if he would let go of the pizza boy. Anther put a brick throu a window of the landy as they all legged it. The main suspect got picked up a mile away wearing his mates clothing. Police took DNA swabs of the blood on my clothing and it matched. I picked him out on a ID parade as did other witnesses and he was still not having it so we all trooped to court about 9 months after the event and he then pleaded and the judge threw the book at him and i was getting £25 compo cheques each month for over a year for my damages (window and new specs)
  9. Note the ppe could at least of tucked his trousers over his boots to stop the sawdust getting down his boots, i would suggest steel toe caps and a sactfical plank on the long leg surport. Was it a comedy award. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yDCtfd9TWs&feature=related[/ame]

The rules of engagment were explained and it is game on. Btw have a look at the comments on [ame] [/ame]i am sure the ones in power are starting to notice the population are getting restless.
  14. Get the snow chains out lads. My boy who is at Bath uni has emailed me to tell me that they are getting falling trees down there, which are giving way due to the weight of the wet snow on them. Saw boughs down in surrey on monday mainly scots pine. He has been snow boarding the last 2 days its hard being a student. Clive
  15. There was a discussion about older polluting vehicle and it was stated on the news that the german govt encourarges the perminant scrapping of older vehicles. To that effect you get a govt allowance of euro 2.5K towards the purchase of a new cleaner vehicle, if you trade in for perminant scrapping a vehicle more than 9 years old. To me a 9 year old veh is new lol I took the liberty to email my local politician (who i know had recently bought a new vehicle) and have already had a very hard cheese reply. Wonder if it could be extended to chippers as well as mine is getting a tired. lol Foot of snow in the garden of the job I was going to do today. All the best Clivey
  16. He says in his press release that if you are buying a new van is to wait a while and see the result of the consultation and his endeavours.
  17. Of interest to arbs who have work in Greater London Just been on the BBC news is that Boris is going to suspend next year phase 3 of the LEZ for light vans, however- on checking the mayors website it is subject to consultation with light van operators etc. a further however he states that he has written to Lord Mandy (the trade and industry minister)suggesting grants for purchase of new vans by businesses and sole traders legitmatly affected so as to get more cleaner vans on the road and so replace older more polluting van. He states that that would provide a stimulus in the commercial motor vehicle trade in these troubled times. I would not hold my breath on this govt giving me a grant towards my new van. google TFL LEZ
