Yep you should have ordered last weekend! But a car battery is best - I don't think it would run on a charger as not enough current.

-

Ha ha - had me worried as I posted them myself - first class - should have been as bit faster than that - I hope these ones fit.

I supposes all wood is worth milling if you have a use for it - I suppose it's like her saying 'is it any good for firewood'. The answer would be yes you can burn it but it's not going to be as good as other types of wood!

Alright Mike - I'm out of the 24" and 36" Sugi bars for Husky... but I do have a Cannon 24" bar you can have for the same price as a Sugi bar. If you put your info into the selector Guide bars you'll see the cannon 24" is now £74 not £98... and you get 10% off that (but sign up on the site then tell me you have done so), cheers, Rob

Yep - all the Stihl bars are on the website Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories
All the Husky bars I have but have yet to add them to website...
-
Alright Ryan - the MS200T - you can fit any of the carving bars really - go for an Oregon or Cannon - these are the best.. start £60-00+vat
Also you need a 1/4" sprocket £23-00+vat as only Stihl have them.
the MS260 is trickier.... you really want whats called a 'blocking out bar' for this saw (running a smaller diameter tipped bar called a 'toonie').
I don't have the toonie bars listed yet but they are around £100-00 for a Cannon 16" and I can get one for you if you want one. These will then run the .325 chain so no need to change the sprocket.
Register on my website Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories

Don't think I'll be able to make it Phil as I've just had 3 weeks off and I'm going to be working my little butt off before Christmas. It's a bit of a hike for me from down in Lymington...
But good on you for organising it and getting it together. I hope it goes well,
Cheers,Rob

Alright TrollS - no I don't sell it. I've tried it but I don't know - I thought it seemed to cause a drop in power myself as the saw seemed to have to work harder to pull the air through... I've gone back to the original (a while ago now) and just clean it out more often and try not to cut that last plank straight off the deck... but it's not ideal I know that fine dust gets through..
-
Alright Josh,
You could do that. Much better though would be to buy a circular saw, screw a straight edge onto your plank and mill 2" by 2" with that. You should be a able to get a circular saw to go up to 4" but if not certainly 3.5". This will be much faster and more accurate. Let me know if this makes sense. If not I'll do some pics for you, cheers, Rob

Good stuff! I've got the G721 sawtune and also the precision grinder - have a look here alaskan mill I home of the portable chainsaw mill and I think they're bloody brilliant! And never had a problem with either. The sawtune is a great grinder - I tend to leave the saw in the mill and just sharpen from the one side.
-
no worrys,
the only thing with a saw bench is it can kick off the blade easily and difficult to use with larger planks. It's good for smaller bits of wood though
-

Discount set - don't hang around long as only have one of those bars and not getting more!

Easier for me if you order on line and I send - as I am not here most of the time...

Cheers, Rob

Hi Ben, Got your order for the grinder. What I'll do is put another couple packs grinding stones in for your 'arbtalk bonus'
Cheers, Rob

Hi Steve - I was wondering if the sponsored forums area could be organised in order of number of posts? That way the more someone contributed to the forum they would feature closer the top?
-
Hi Mike,
Well you'll definately want an Alaskan 48" horozontal mill (£180-00) and if you're thinking of doing posts and beams you'll also want a vertical mini mill (£85-00) to go with a smaller saw.
I've tried all various ripping chains as follows is what I've found - full comp Oregon is a good all round slightly cheaper chain (£0.27 drive link), Oregon skip link chain is good for ripping softwood quickly but will leave a rougher finish (£0.30 drive link), Stihl ripping chain I've not tried but would say good but again rougher finish, Granberg is fast in all wood and leaves a smooth finish but is more expensive (£0.40 drive link),
Cheers, Rob
