Anybody used one of these to alleviate wrist soreness and build up strength in the wrist and forearm? The're only a few quid from play.com and seem to have good reviews although mostly for their 'fun' element.

Eh? Anyway not sure about fingerless gloves because I tend to get silky cuts when using them and suffer from cold hands anyway. Thinking for the winter to try some sealskinz ultra fit under some disposable sticky gloves for grip and see how that goes.

The stretch airs look good. Not sure of the weight difference between them and the hiflex, but they look more durable. The pocket lining has gone in all my stihl clothing and for something that costs that much you would expect better quality than that.

I expected a contrast of opinions which is why I posted it. Those chips were there when the crab was provided to me and its been passed by our zurich loler inspector a number of times now. In my opinion those chips have been caused by some considerable impact. Could such impact lead to weaknesses such as internal fracture that we cannot see? I'm not going to use this for climbing and I agree that there is enough risk for us to manage already.

I'm presuming the braided bit is the sheath. I guess I'll find out when I wear this one through! You're right it does look harder wearing.

What do you think to the chip on the load bearing part of this biner? Retire or downgrade maybe?

I climbed on it like that for a while yes, whereas I should have refused. I've got the new version which is a braided sheath covering it. My opinion is once you can see the load bearing part, get it replaced.

Here's a couple of pics of my bridge and I'm pleased that I've got a replacement now. It might be as strong as when it was new but it's not looking good for the central life support. A respected equipment supplier and isa comp judge condemned one that had half this amount of wear.

Nice fell right between the trees. The pole saw up there is a new turn i dont normally use it for up in a tree although i see its use is handy.

When I worked in the states I took a pole saw up nearly every tree. Mostly to pass my climbing line up to the next crotch and also for getting hangers and hard to reach cuts. It can be cumbersome and dangerous if you hook it onto something and it comes flying past you.

I much prefer climbing without one.

Has anyone got or tried the petzl cordex belay/rappel gloves for general tree work? How are they for gripping in the wet? Saw the guy on 'The Land of the Jaguar' documentary using them to descend a waterfall.

Anybody know where I can buy a Montane Extreme Smock. Tried one on in Manchester but didn't buy at the time and besides they are cheaper to buy online. However they seem to be out of stock in most shops. Want one for those cold winter days to sling on when you get down from the tree.
