  1. its defo made a difference and taken a chill out of the air. Will build up burn gradually this week as advised. Looking forward to sitting in my grunts when in here when its snowing outside!

  2. Can anyone reassure me? I've just had a clearview vision 500 (8kw) installed and I'm really pleased with the job they've done. I've lit it for the first time tonight and following advice from the installer not gone for a big burn in order to ease it in. As yet there doesn't seem to be a lot of heat kicking out at all and its been going a few hours tonight. Does it get better the more its used?

I've had the flue lined and insulated with vermiculite so it draws incredibly quick. The fire is surrounded by fire boards and set on a granite hearth. I'm really impressed with how long each log burns for.

I'm hoping that it will heat the ground floor of my terraced house which is open-plan but not big

  3. Going down to the APF this year and I'm wondering if it is possible to try some different spikes to see which ones are most comfortable for me. I know there's a lot of gear sales tents but is there anywhere we can try stuff and staff to give advice while we do so?

  4. This sounds like a lot to ask but we are after a lightweight, hi vis waterproof jacket that is breathable enough to wear over a polo shirt in the summer. I know the stein evolution is out there but the reflective strips don't look substantial enough to use on a highway or am I wrong?

Cheap would be a good thing too!

  5. Would you consider wearing a hi-vis in the tree a hazard due to it being a distraction to motorists. The reason I'm asking is because I've been told that I have to wear them on the ground on roadside work but not allowed to wear them in the tree for the above reason. Personally I don't think it is a problem being seen in the tree and it is a pain changing in and out of hi-vis all the time. I'd rather wear it all the time for road side work, which is easy when you have a hi-vis T shirt.

  6. Has this been addressed before? Anyway I'm interested to know what people's thoughts are on wearing a hi-vis while climbing. Does anyone think that it would be a distraction to motorists or are you all for being visible at all times?

  7. Qualifications don't make you good at the job, there is no question of that. Qualifications don't do anything other than 'prove' you have done something. It's that 'something' that is the important part. The system and process behind the learning that leads towards the qualification, along with what you retain, is the valuable thing. If you just go through the motions towards gaining a qualification then you will not benefit nearly as much as a person who thrives from learning about a subject they are really absorbed in. This would reflect well in talking to customers and conferring with colleagues. I believe that qualifications are important only if they have been enjoyed and this does not necessarily take away practical skill and ability as knowledge can go hand in hand with this

  8. Will tell him that Peter. I've just done a little bit of forum research and some say that it may grow another head if you cut it lower. I think it was a green leaved one and I'm aware that the red leaved ones are less hardy.

  9. My neighbor has asked me for advice on his palm(cordeline?) which seems to have pretty much died since the winter. There is a little bit of life in the apex and it is beginning to sprout all around the base. Any advice I can give him on the matter? Should we wait a bit longer and see what happens or cut it down to the base where the fresh growth is?

  10. My brother has been asked to build and install a tree house and wants to know what is the best design/technque that allows for the tree growth or causes minimum damage to the tree. I suppose changing the tree house every year would do it but that would be inpracticle. Any ideas?

  11. The number plate itself isn’t illegal, there are still plenty of plates out there without the manufacturer identifier.

What is illegal is, in the UK, supplying the plates if the supplier isn’t registered.

At least the rules have now changed to prevent suppliers putting themselves and advert on the plates.

The law requires the plate supplier to be identifiable and for the most part that can be done on postcode alone.

    Andy

I just got one and it has the suppliers name, address and telephone number printed on it. Is that ligit?
