  1. Been trying to upload some pictures of my log store but for some reason it just says "waiting for" followed by the name of whatever forum I'm on. It even won't let me upload attachments to email in hotmail - the same thing, it just says waiting. The pictures are only a couple of meg at the most. Any ideas what it might be?

  2. If you're getting gecko's you should be aware that there are three different gaff types to chose from and I ended up with the euro types because my boss ordered them. I can't get along with the gaffs but the pads seem comfortable. At the min I'm climbing on bashlins with buckingham pads with the metal insert to stop the pad from shifting around. These have been the best ones I've had

  3. The IPPC has certain requirements for marking of pallets.

Just pulled this from a search :

'Heat treatment (HT) to a minimum core temperature of 56oC for a minimum of 30 minutes. To attest to compliance to the standard the pallet must be clearly marked on 2 faces showing the official IPPC logo, a 2 letter country code (xx), a unique number (000) assigned by the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO), HT for Heat Treatment.'

I have a block from a pallet in my hand and it is marked HT/KC/DB

    DB means de-barked

not sure what kc stands for but some say KD meaning kiln dried

  4. Who's switched of late? I've been with british gas for the past couple of years for both gas and electricity. I pay quarterly and give my own meter readings online. I haven't been bothered about shopping around for the best deals because I've always thought they are all the same at the end of the day. I recently heard of an energy provider called Ovo and some people on another forum swear by them. For a start their call centers are in the uk and they are supposed to have a competitive tarrif. To be quite honest british gas has too many payment plans and I've never known if I'm on the best one for me so I don't know if I'm getting ripped off. I do know that I don't use much gas at all due to my wood burner yet I still pay around £100 per quarter. That's with no central heating on

  5. I'm after using pallet wood for building a little log store but its difficult to dismantle them without damaging the boards. I saw a vid on youtube where a chap was using a lump hammer but I can only see that way working on certain pallet constructions, where you can get the hammer to it. Does anyone have a technique that they could share? I would prefer to get the whole board without having to cut it.

  6. I've got bad wrists. A physiotherapist said there was thickening of the tendons or something like that. I can't get into the flat hand press-up position any longer. I'm going to get wrist wraps to support them when doing anything like pressups or chin-ups. The physio said that I wouldn't get weaker wrists through using them. She also said that it could be treated by acupunture but its costly

  7. I bought a genuine army goretex recently. Nice and ightweight, very waterproof. They are kind of long so can be well tucked in over the harness. For more general wear the hood doesn't self support as there is no wire rim but its not too bad if you pull the cords to make it smaller. The material itself snags facial hair which is a bit annoying so I might stitch a liner of some sort around the collar. For £20 plus vat and shipping not a bad purchase at all

  8. hi david

as to your original question yes they are worth it! the room we have the wood burner in is not big at all but in the depths of winter with the ecofan the house stays hot, before the fan only the room with wood burner in and the very top of the house stayed warm. Go for the three blade well worth it IMO!!

Thats why I bought one. My fire heats up my living room kitchen and front room which all lead into each other but I want to get the heat moving around the house quicker (i.e. rather than waiting for heat to build up).
