  1. Cheers Mick, im working with a good experinced climber who is going to bring me up to speed. learnt loads this week.
  2. :thumbup:I have been on a weeks trial with a tree company all week and got told today that i would be kept on until mid may when i would be reacessed as the boss wants to see me climb more and get me up to speed. Im so chuffed ,been out of work for two months and landed this job. Its mainly LA work, street trees ecte but i love it been out this week doing all sorts felling, chipping talking to irrate pepole who ask why were taking trees down ecte. I GOT WORK!!
  3. :sad:Sorry topcat tried watching it but my neck is aching. can you put it the right way up. Why did it need taking down so fast anyway?
  4. Its a diffcult one isnt it.I would not want to work in a tree with a nest in it at all.The wildlife act makes that clear. But i can see the dicotomy in it.Boss wants the job done which equals money..and how we all need it in this reccession ,but the legal duty is in your face. Could the job have waited a few more weeks?
  5. Course is good.Did it yesterday, just seems like a natural proggression from your climbing ticket.if you know how to branch walk with a supplmentary anchor and use redirects thats half the battle.getting into safe working postions without the saw being near yourself or your life lines.learning how to do the cuts, fall cuts and cut and throw. Assement is this friday.
  6. Another issue as to why we are losing bees is because gardeners are planting flowers that dont produce pollen or sterile flowers to stop them from becoming invasive non native plants. So bees are not getting enough pollen to survie.Second reason is are loss of natural flower meadows being taken up by agricultral land and construction. We need nore wild pollen filled flowers. i did a bees survey last year for bugs life and looked at the amount of bees in an hour and how many off them had pollen stuck to their legs...not that much:sad: if you want to help your self to help the bees plant native wild flowers in your garden.Plant daffodils, thyme, gernium, lavender, pussy willow..check out this link to find more. http://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/features/plants-for-bees/
  7. On a more seroius note steve.Surley the thicker the diameter of the stem the more height and weight you are going to have handle when pulling the stem over to lay..too much weight and it coud tear or snap...what species you thinking about. Hope im not telling you to suck eggs mate..you have probaly thought of all this.

  11. QUOTE=Jason James Gairn;119155]Nice one! Good luck with the assessment. Most people are average, and happy to be so. Which I think is very strange, which makes you normal in my book, unless of course you are strange, in which case Andy C is plain odd. You could just be very progressive in your thinking, in which case you'll be normal in the future, but presently abnormal. I run parrallel to this progression, maintaining a nominal distance from weird. Once again, good luck freak boy! [..so if im normal according to you theory..(Cerne thinks)...surley if parrel is to; being odd is normality cunnigly disgusied as a banna! Assement friday...(normality returns)...ohh look at the pink elephants!
  12. First day of cs39 training today...its good to be back in tree wrather than searcing for jobs on the net and not getting any results.Even when the rain started falling and i was doing a nice long branch walk on a copper beech....still good. more tommorrow...wwwweeeee!
  13. Sounds like bacterial action then tree hunter. The wood decay process...but then im no expert, i could be wrong..just my opinion.
  14. just looked it up in Strouts and winter. Could also be causican canker of lime. When the tree flushes is the top upper most crown foilage yellowed and lacking foilage?Any cankers on the Stem?Dying bark?Staining below the cankers..black brown stains?
  15. mmm..could be a slime flux or bacterial wetwood me thinks.Does it smelly funny like methane?
  16. LOL:001_tongue:....i prefer different to the rest of the herd Andy.

  18. better than taking recreational drugs John! Not that i would know that is:blushing:
  19. beleive me John....if you met me strange would be the right word:001_tongue:..ask Andy Collins...LOL. What i ment was be nice to get another ticket to improve the tools for getting a job.I do get nervous but when im into it i usal feel ok.
