  1. yeah bob, just like the fear, if you are never scared then i also think its time to give up:beerglass:
  2. i no what your saying matey, like all bad experiences - you learn quickly!!!! just a thought, pete said to put my strop to my center d but i have a soft link on my micocender......... are the soft links as strong as the wire strop?? i think it would be sensible to put the first krabby that joins the microcender and soft link on to my d rather than he one on the opposite end of the soft link?????
  3. goodpoints matty but what if the groundies are like the silly little climbers your on about, ive come across a few and they wont listen to you because like the climber they think they are god, i will admit i hate dragging, i am paid to climb, if i wanted to drag i wouldnt of bothered with college and all the money i have spent on kit etc.. but as work goes like today if they want me to drag for the same money them im up for it....
  4. hello bob, i have my second hand on the saw handle, just looks like its under the cut, i should of steped up but you know what its like when times kicking on!!! all valuable tips that you guys have picked up on tho:151:
  5. hell yeah, some just tie a huge knot and send it up, they dnt realise how hard sometimes it is to undo them at the top of a tree, i met a guy once who sums these people in one sentence,(in a sarcastic manner) if you cant tie knots tie lots!!!!! hehe knots are invalueable, i take time to show groundies these few knots, some listen some think they know better but i know who ill want tieing a saw on or a pulling rope
  6. yeah more often than not when climbing you get set into the work and do a few extra chogs or knock out more limbs than needed.....
  7. there was a strop with a pully just below my cut and the strop around the top half was over a crotch so in the event of thestrop sliping the brance wouldnt go far, the grounds man didnt take the slack up enuff and had virtually locked it off with too many wraps, ive put all these vids and that up because i wnat to better my self and take all the critism/praise in to help me better my self, thanks for all your help guys:)

could be the next essintial tool!!!
  9. the tree had a lean and looked ok to climb, i put in a small gob, started to do my back cut and gt half way there and it just went, i saw it split and thought **** and would sooner get my strop off(as i didnt mention i had my life line on a peg below me) rather than keep cutting as there was a fair old amount left to go, ive only been climbing 4 years and luckly this has tought me a huge lesson, sorry if i didnt explain properly matey
  10. nevery thought of that, nice tip matey
  11. i am a subbie but have worked with him alot, he said he knows the score and i let him know what to do, like pete i get put on allhe hard jobs with people that arnt too clued up, i had the topping strop with a pully on it to knock the top out and can you define exactly wat a arborist pully is???
  12. i dont know if im being a big girl but 9 times out of 10 i wil always ask the groundsman if a branch/top will fit where i want it to go.... most of the time the climber has the best view anyways but it just makes me feel 100% more better for doing so,
  13. looks like a pheonix palm?? here are some in the south of ireland i think....
  14. difficult chog because the gap to land the logs was tiny!!!!! i had to walk it into position to get it rite!!! this tree was the culprit for the snapped topping strop and the same bloke on the rope!!!! notice how much the tree shakes!!!!
  15. they use them in new zealand to get to the top of 200ft euycs, look great fun
  16. my old co-climber always used to say it takes a bigger man to come down, there is always some way/one that will help out, i bottled a large pop 3 yrs ago, i had the piss taken out of me by a few groundies but only in jest:five:

hell yeah!!!! i did a squirell dray they day b4!!!!! lol didnt chop them tho, but they ended up in the chipper sum how:002:
  18. i did the silly thing and became a fully qualified car mechanic first, but did my first big take down at 19 to if i remember correctly, my uncle whos now a consultant for jeremy barrell gave me ago on his ropes and since then i was hooked
  19. full nptc tickets and compotent, someone whos happy with a bigish take down??
  20. i did it at collage, to be fair its a priority to know a pole resue, alto can happen while chogging down, all pretty simple tho, topping strop, pully and a whoopy sling around the base with a capstain, clip the guy into the krabby on the lowering rope then attatch your self and make sure his/hers head and bits dont bash on the tgree as the groundsman lowers you both, also do not remove the harness if they have been hanging in the tree for some time because the instant rush of toxins will KILL them!!!! just relese it slowly over a hr period and make sure they are sitting up against the tree or a wall because the recovery postion once again is useless, you need to get all the blood even again.......
  21. whos the youngest fully qualified climber on here?? im 23 just can anyone beat that??
  22. i use a gomarto but havent used it in a while!!!!! they keep giving me nasty roping down trees!!!!!!!!!
  23. with allopes and kit aroud there is always going to be mis-haps and accidents, but asg as nobody gets hurt or injured its ok, sometimes its a good thing because it sharpens everybody up, it is far to easy to get lapse-a-daisical!!!!!!
