  1. ive thought about self employment the problem being thats theres already alot of tree company's in my area already, from small outfits some of Scotland's biggest apart from that, im un-emloyed and the only jobs going are part time in shops, no way i can save enought money to do anything let alone start my own company
  2. yea, free with no strings attached, ill even bring coffee and food, lol im just scaired thats its gona be a case of i dont use it i loose it, ive worked hard to get my tickets and havnt had a chance to use or show anyone what i can do

  4. from this to this all in one day and one of my mate on a bike track we built dont worry about the trees, the place is getting clear felled early next year
  5. True, im still more than willing to learn, i just need to find someone to take me on and show me more. Im fed up no working, so much so i phoned company's and even offered to work the odd day for free just to get some experience behind me, no-one is bothering though
  6. i got shown the split level cut, dogtooth cut, letter box cut and just a normal felling cut. my cs31 test involved, the dogtooth, split level and a normal directional felling cut
  7. i did a course at Kilmarnock College in Ayrshire, Scotland. Last August to July this year, i had 2 lecturers called Angus Tresider and Craig McIntosh, Angus has worked as a tree surgeon all over the world and took up teaching years ago, Craig has bags of experience, i couldn't have asked for better teachers, both are NPTC qualified instructors and assessors. Everything on my course was spot on, maybe this was because both really new what they were doing.
  8. great story buddy, by no means am i a tree hugger but i remind every one i know trees have feelings and are living just like you and i, people look at me strangley, who cares, if it wasnt for trees we wouldnt have a job let alone oxygen, lol
  9. i was looking for the same during my training, best i could find was on the internet, it wasnt very helpfull, so would still like proper training, all i can do at the moment its a back splice and ring splice

    Job Wanted

    As title. Im a newly qualified tree surgeon, ive got cs30, cs31, cs38 and cs39, i also have a cscs card and a current first aid certificate. Im 28 years old, based in Ayrshire and hold a full driving lisence ( not pre 97 ) I did my training at Kilmarnock College from last August till July this year. I've tried all the local company's and had no word back so i thought i would post something here, Thanks for reading, Garry
  12. I was talking to my girlfriend brother and he told me his friend had been doing tree surgery for a while abroad, i liked the sound of it so got some info and were i could train, a year later im fully qualified but still looking for a job

  14. just noticed theres already pictures of me on this forum, in the competition section, 2 of the pictures that Footpad posted are me, 1 while snedding and another doing maintanance, i went to college with Footpad, had his camera handy most days, lol
  15. True, i dont have a job yet and ive got all the PPE you could shake a stick at, 4 pair of all-round chainsaw trousers, 2 pair of chainsaw gloves, 2 pair of boots and a pair of wellys and the fancy husky helmet, supose if i dont get a job soon i could model for stihl, haha
  16. I did my test at the start of the year, i didnt have to do the pole rescue but tell him what it involved and how to do it, just as well, ive only done it once
