  1. APF 2024 will take place at Ragley Estate on the 19/20/21st September 2024. Around half of the 23000 visitors to the show regard themselves as working in arboriculture. The event is therefore very important for companies working within the arb sector as they have a very targeted audience. At APF 2022 we staged our first tree climbing competition and introduced our new Arb Worker Zone focusing on the needs of the working arborist . We are looking to develop these for APF 2024 and are looking for partners to work with us to make them even more popular, high-profile features. The tree climbing can be one or more events and branded with the sponsors name. It could feature individual and team events and we are looking to make it as exciting and spectator friendly as possible. The Arb Worker Zone, situated in the heart of the static display area, is a mix of technical demos of new machines, equipment and techniques, workshops for technical issues such as machine maintenance, competitions such as line throwing and knot tying and a seminar tent with short presentations on key topics of the day. Exhibition Secretary, Ian Millward commented ‘Both the tree climbing competition and the AWZ are in high profile locations on the showground and are an excellent opportunity to increase a companies brand name and profile in the arb industry. We are looking to work with companies to develop these areas and are happy to discuss ideas with any company wanting to be involved. With 12500 working arborists visiting it is an opportunity not to be missed ‘. For further information please contact Ian on 01428 723545, email:[email protected]. Website: www.apfexhibition.co.uk
  2. Postage is a nightmare. We try to be competetive but generally always lose out if the customer only orders a single item.
  3. so the roots have blocked or damaged the pipe, which exactly is it? Sounds like a chancer to me
  4. Anyone with any sense! This is actually one thing I dislike about the battery saws, it being theoretically possible to knock off the chainbrake and rev the motor with the saw at your side. I suppose the husky model at least had an off off button
  5. You have to remember we are a small industry and stick the word ‘Arb’ in front of anything and it automatically trebles the cost. Oh except websites which seem to be the reverse 😀
  6. Well that just added a couple grand to your £200 device 😀
  7. Last one I went to was quite a few years back and was held at Longleat. Pretty sure it was Confor. It was ok back then but it was definetly more focussed on forestry unlike the APF which almost seemed to be aimed more at Arb this year than forestry. That was a few years back though so who knows what its become now. Don't expect an APF though!
  8. ‘High clipping is amazing’ said no one ever. it’s not a problem, but it’s just not slick. I climbed for 21 years and never felt any sort of chainsaw lanyard set up I tried was perfect. A recoiling lanyard would be quite cool if it worked.
  9. How to mount it to the harness(all makes) i think would be the main hurdle to overcome
  10. Thats what you call cherry picking stats at its finest. I expect if you take the richest parts of Germany out of the equation and then compared Germany to the whole of the UK then you'd get very similar statistics in reverse, or any other European country for that matter. Bit laughable i'm afraid mate.
  11. Up but not with you! Working till 1am most nights at the moment so generally in a zombified state till around 11 😀
  12. Trees on steroids! That’s done a remarkable good job in a short space of time. Thanks for the update
  13. For goodness sake, I find the whole thing ridiculous. Spanish (along with Italians and the french for that matter) are famous for their kissing. the grabbing the crotch thing I find more newsworthy
  14. I’ve heard it’s steak night on those rigs most nights
  15. Arbtalk is proudly partnering with LANDSCAPE – The Industry Trade Show for another great show in 2023! After 12 years of curating successful exhibitions, LANDSCAPE prevails as the essential industry-leading event that welcomes hundreds of companies exhibiting new products and solutions. LANDSCAPE ensures their wide range of exhibitors represent every corner of the industry. Exhibitors include suppliers of machinery, compost, soils, tools as well as living trees, plants and turf. LANDSCAPE isn’t just about exhibits. It’s a knowledge-sharing platform where experts and thought-leaders gather to share their insights. The show has secured over 100 incredible speakers who are keen to impart their expertise. LANDSCAPE hosts free CPD seminar sessions, How To sessions as well as intimate interviews held at the central bar and networking drinks to attend. Each seminar session is carefully selected as the programme aims to educate, inspire and connect professionals while providing an informal setting to share ideas. Learn about groundbreaking projects and discover how you can contribute to shaping a more sustainable future through your own work. With sustainability at the forefront, LANDSCAPE aims to motivate the landscaping world to move towards a more environmentally-friendly industry. LANDSCAPE’S ecological stance ensures just that as this year they are supporting real turf only. The show won’t be taking bookings from any exhibitors that represent artificial plants, flowers or turf. Their goal is to support natural materials only and encourage others to do the same. While you’re there you can connect with peers and learn about developments from professionals working at the top of their game! This essential trade event means you can meet tree care professionals and others in the wider landscaping space, guaranteed to increase your network. The show takes place at the NEC, Birmingham this year. Join thousands of landscaping professionals on the 27th & 28th of September 2023. Entry guarantees you access to the exhibition hall and all of the seminars. For more information or to register to attend the show, visit www.landscapeshow.co.uk. See you there!
  16. Stand OSA 30, Stoneleigh Park (20-21 September) STIHL will be showcasing its full AP System range of professional battery tools at the first GroundsFest 2023 exhibition, highlighting how cordless tools can meet the varying needs of landscapers and groundscare teams. Visitors to the STIHL stand will be able to see the new PS 3000, STIHL’s first portable 230V power supply, providing users with a quiet, low maintenance and emission-free alternative to petrol-powered generators. Weighing only 19.8kg and boasting a 3.6kW power output, the new PS 3000 offers a high power-to-weight ratio and is one of the most powerful portable power supply units in its weight class. Other new tools available for professional users to get their hands on at the exhibition will be the BGA 300 backpack blower, HSA 100 cordless hedge trimmer, and the updated MSA 220 C-B chainsaw. The BGA 300, STIHL’s first cordless backpack blower for professional users, offers high performance and a significantly less disruptive sound thanks to its innovative STIHL Noise Reduction System (NRS). Thanks to the STIHL NRS, the BGA 300 produces fewer high pitch frequencies often associated with cordless blowers, meaning operation is much more pleasant and less intrusive for bystanders. In addition, The HSA 100 boasts a 60cm double-sided, double-edged cutting blade, which offers improved cutting performance due to the large cutter spacing of the blades, whereas the updated MSA 220 C-B is a robust and powerful cordless chainsaw, ideal for felling small trees, pruning and cutting to length. STIHL will also be showcasing a range of petrol-powered tools on its demo plot, allowing professional users to see a direct comparison between battery and petrol performance.
