I'm still climbing on basic kit.......rope with bowline and a prussik. Although i have no real complaints with this system (my arms and shoulders may tend to disagree at times I am considering a change. Without getting too technical what would be the recommendations to make life a little easier.?

Same here mate...

Swap to using a distel and micro pulley or a VT set-up.... thats what im working on just now

I'm not climbing huge amounts these days, but realised that I needed to update. from climbing on a Blakes without pulley.

Tinkered around with a few bits and pieces and have settled on Ocean polyester/Howard hitch plus Hitch climber.

Just need to update to oval krabs and get me a new rope :blushing:

£32 for the friction cord.....climbing everyday how often would this need replacing?

ive had mine (same as the above but £28 from tree worker) for 6months now, climbing every working day, aslong as you dont do any crazy fast decents it'll last aslong, probabally longer than a prussik

i know some people replace theirs weekly(not ocean poly) off the reel, and just tie double fishermans instead of stitched eyes
