Cant view the picture properly as not a member but are they on a bank? We have trouble with new trees on our Devon banks when young. Think it's simply they struggle for water until the are big enough to get their roots down to ground level then they are off.

The pic isn't very helpful, but they look like well established young plants, though odd plants have turned brown. I've asked the question re the position and possible water shortage, but in my experience, once established, Thornes don't die back like this.
