Talk to me about climbing

I know nothing about climbing but it is something i really want to learn and do, i have ordered the tree climbers companion so im looking forward to reading through that, but in the mean time im looking for stuff on the net to read through, can anyone point me to some good sites with lots of pics and info please. has anyone got any tips for me, im looking to do my cs30 +31 shortly then move onto the climbing ones at a later date, what uk website is the best for climbing gear and what would you reccomend??

forgot to mention dvds, is there any good basic climbing ones? i would be very interested in seeing them

I would find a good local climber and go out and watch/help him for a while ! you will learn loads !

almost forgot, can you get pto chippers? a used one to go behind our vintage tractors would be nice, is there any websites i can look at??

what do most people use for climbing? ropes or spurs?whats the adv and dis advs of both?

Hi Mark, going and spending some time with a local firm will be good, also it would be good to go to a climbing comp to see pure climbing.

As for pto chippers, there are dozens... Just google PTO chipper.

yes ive lokked through the vids, but i could do with something basic which starts at the beginning, explaining the different bits of kit,etc

go to the norwich comp if your local. and ring around local companies thats what i did and worked for a bit before going to college by which time i already knew a bit and had my own kit and was climbing.
