The backfire thing is just a little unburnt vapour igniting in the exhaust, don't worry about it.

I'm assuming my CS100 'backfires' for similar reasons, it does it quite often, Normally just as the client feels brave enough to come talk to me after ive turned off the machine, great entertainment
