Iveco 180e23 gearbox

In the last week it's getting increasingly difficult to engage 3rd gear. It's as if the gear stick runs out of movement to engage the gear, so just grinds. Was wondering if there is any adjustment?

 

Any other 180e23 owners out there?

 

It's a 6 speed box.

The clutch is also very heavy to press compared to.my 7.5t Iveco, but this might be usual.

Forgot all about your pm, only just got my lorry back from its mot.

 

Not sure about the gear lever thing, but my clutch was really heavy until I had it replaced and now it's lovely.

Thanks Peter. It might be the clutch needs changing and that'll sort both problems out.

 

My 7.5t clutch was heavy as well until it was changed.

How's the war linkage, mainly the linkage near the back of the rocket cover at the base of the telescopic tube which extends out when you tip the cab. If this isn't adequately greased gear selection suffers hugely, did mine recently and its transformed the feel of the gears. You have to remove it to grease it as the bolt you need to remove to grease it is obstructed by the other part of the linkage, easy job though.

If you get a grinding when you try to engage a gear (with the clutch down obviously) then the clutch is dragging. Heavy clutch is also a good sign that it is worn.

If you do replace the clutch get one from Iveco. I had loads of problems with a non genuine part, and then it turned out the Iveco part was no more expensive.

 

Got pretty good at driving at it without a clutch though.

Out of curiosity, how much does the fitting of a new clutch cost ? Fortunately mine feels nice and light, does drag a little though.

Can't remember tbh, mine was in and out about 6 times in the end, but I just paid for the parts and traded some tree work for the labour.

Thanks for the replies guys. I tend to buy Iveco parts anyway as my local one will deliver to me if I need them to.

Have always found the price of Iveco parts to be fair.

Zeppelin Trading can have good prices on iveco parts as well.
