Hello this is my first post I've got 2 cheap saws one runs on 25:1 mix and the other runs on 40:1. I wanted to try Aspen fuel as I don't use them much,my question is do I have to use aspen 4 stroke and ad my own oil which is castrol power 1racing 2t ,or will the 2stroke aspen mix be OK for both saws, cheers.

I use aspen, if it was me I would continue to use the castrol in the ratios you currently do but obviously with aspen, unless you can find out if the manufacturer of the saws specifies something different, we used to use shell r at 16:1, from memory it was around 300 ml of oil to 5 litres, not in chainsaws mind, it was a mineral oil and carbon build was huge compared to synthetics, who makes the saws ?

I take it there's no issues switching a saw over to aspen that's previously been run on forecourt 2 stroke mix?

In most cases there are no issues, but there are very slight differences in the density of Aspen and petrol, so in just a few cases it may ne necessary to retune the 'L' screw (normally just a fraction of a turn counterclockwise to richen the mix a tiny bit)

Also it's possible that if prolonged exposure to petrol has degraded the fuel lines, they may shrink a little after a while on Aspen. The problems that may encountered are very small and easy to fix. New saws that have not been exposed to petrol, or have only seen a little, will have no issues at all.

The benefits are a gain and worth the pain, go on, Aspenate now, you know you want to!
