Looks well neat :thumbup1:

Can old rope be spliced or does it have to be new stuff?

Old rope is a nightmare, you can soak it in water to try and make it easier but I avoid it.

Whipping is going through the splice so should be OK, yeah very flexible, double braid? I am still practicing with that Marlow you gave me Bob but I am having trouble despite finding double braid eye splices pretty easy when I first did it.

DB splices are very easy on loose weave cords, but the final bury can be very challenging on tighter ropes.

Getting the splice right is all in the measuring and marking imo.

what rope is that bob? looks double braid but the splice on the pulley looks flat like a 16 strand splice-im sure its just the camera angle though. very neat btw.
